Dancer Goes To The Vet Today

I feel like a new Mom anxious to see if her baby has grown enough, and worried about the vaccinations, and can't wait to see what the vet thinks.
Dancer goes in today for a thorough check up, as well as her yearly booster, and to talk to the vet about her next appointment in two weeks to have her hips xrayed for certification.
I was hoping to have it done with no anesthetic, but the vet insists we will get the best results under anesthetic, so we'll do the test first to make sure she should be ok with the anesthetic. Having a pet go under general anesthetic terrifies me. I hate it.
I have already collected a sample of Dancer's morning "gift" LOL, they told me to put it in the fridge, so there it sits, a good appetite suppressant if you happen to open the fridge looking for a snack and see a ziploc baggie with poo in it.
Our appointment is at 2pm.... I wish now I had gotten an earlier appointment...lol.... to get it over with.
She's a healthy, happy girl, so I'm sure everything will be fine, but I'm nervous anyway...lol....
I just hope she doesn't bark at people at the vets office. She didn't last time, but that was just to say hi and get weighed a few weeks ago, and so they could give her treats...lol... I like to bring her in occasionally for no reason just so going to the vet isn't automatically associated with bad things. When I take Sky in to say hello, she ambles right up to the counter, flops her big paws on it, and sniffs at the treat jar looking at them like "hello?" LOL Dancer is my protective puppy though, she likes to case the place out first, make sure there is nothing dangerous to me first. When she is up on the vets table, she sits and looks at him with her pretty dark brown doe eyes and puts a paw on his shoulder, he falls in love with her everytime. However, it's been a while since she has had to have a needle.... she may not love him as much today. LOL
Anyway, just wanted to talk about all this, and realize that you guys are the only ones I can talk to about my worries of my baby going to the vet who won't think I am totally insane (not for that at least! )

Several years ago I had a collie that needed teeth and gum work. Under general anesthesia he did wonderful. I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck and keep us posted.
Hi Willowsprite ~

You're such a good mommy for your furbabies (and uprights, too, I'm sure!)! :D It's only natural to be a little nervous, but I'm sure she'll be just fine! :D

Let us know this afternoon when you return how it all goes!
Good luck today, all will be well. When Beau had to spend the day at the vets they would fix a special corner for him and he got the run of the office. He would sit behind the desk with the girls and act like he was the offical host, greeting all the new arrivals :D
I can totally relate to your feelings. Bailey will have to go under anesthesia for the first time this month and I get worried about it too. Plus - how is this poor dog going to survive from 6:30pm until 8am without any treats? He'll be completely confused! And so will we, we're going to have to empty our pockets and lock up the treat jar just so we don't engage in subconscious treating! LOL

Have a great vet appointment - everyone will be admiring beautiful Dancer and it will be over before you and she know it!
I'm sure Dancer will come through with flying colors, Stacey!! And is it really Dancer who won't like the shot, or is it Mom?? My experiences with Drezzie is that she just looks back as if to say, "What was that?" and that's the end of it.

It's only natural to worry, but I'm confident she'll do great!

Chris
I've got my fingers crossed for ya!
Thanks everyone :)
Everything did go absolutely fantastic! Dancer was so calm, I thought it must have been someone else's dog. She licked the cab drivers ear both on the way there and the way back, which he seemed to love :? lol
At the vet she was confident going in, sniffed around, was happy to greet the vet techs and receptionist, and even the vet. LOL
When it was time to go into the actual office she walked in, and put her paws up on the table, I guess thinking it was like a grooming table, LOL, and the vet laughed at her. She was so good! Not even shaking like me! LOL
He gave her a thorough check up, and said she looks wonderful and seems to be in perfect health, and was very impressed with her temperment. He said even good dogs tend to shy away a bit after the needle, but she was fine, just gave him kisses.
All in all, the whole thing went great, and I feel so much better....lol....
Two weeks from today she goes back for hip certification. That one is going to suck, because I have to drop her off in the morning and am supposed to come back and pick her up later. I don't think I'll want to leave her though, I think I'll just take a good book to read and camp out in the waiting room. LOL
Do glad to hear the whole vet trip went well. I'm sure hip certs will be grand too! It's a bummer anytime you have to have them undergo anesthesia, but you won't have to worry about it for a little while anyways! I love the new pic of her btw! (That is Dancer right? Sky is still in her full coat?)

Karen :)
 Yeah!! I'm glad things went well today for both of you!!

I'm sure the hip certs will go well, too. I understand about wanting to camp out in the waiting room, though. I thought about that when Beau was neutered last month. But I didn't think they'd really want me there all day. Instead, I ask them to do him first thing, so I was able to pick him up very early in the afternoon. I may as well have stayed though, because all I did was watch the clock and call them four times while at my office!
Yay! :clappurple:
That is indeed a pic of Dancer, but it's not a new one, it was shortly before she was again in a summer do. Now she has about an inch and half of coat.
Hi,

Ohhh saw this after it was all over. I'm so glad everything went well , you survived the ordeal and Dancer was in perfect health. Ah seems we moms and dads feel it too when our babies have to go through it. We just glow when our boys and girls are well behaved!

Don't worry (saying that I know you still will) about the upcoming hip check. Take care and give Dancer a belly rub for me!

Marianne and the boys
Horay for Dancer; glad everything went well. Sounds like you both need to treat yourselves to a big steak.
Yay! Sounds like Dancer has this vet thing under control.

We'll be thinking about you next week.
OFA do insist the dog be under for a proper review. Remy did just fine, but afterwards she was so groggy, and not herself for a few hours...even pooed in the house....something she just does not do, EVER. So I knew she wasn't herself and after a good nap, she was all perked up again.

She still LOVES to go to the vet, we too just did our yearly booster shots for everything.

Give her lots of belly rubs from us.
