OES Pajama Pants

Hi all;

I know I haven't been around much lately; stuff has been sort of hectic for us this summer. But, busy = business, and I finally got ahead in some of my bills, and could afford to order more of that Sheepdog fabric! I just tonight finished a pair of Pajama Pants for myself, and wanted to share with everyone how they turned out. I'm really quite pleased...

I'm not brilliant at sewing, and this is the first time I had to do pockets, button holes (for the draw string- another first) and the contrast on the bottom, I added piping to, yet another first for me. All in all, I made no mistakes (I can't say that often) and I'm really pleased with how they came out!

Where did you find the sheepdog material?

I designed it myself!!! This was my original drawing:

And then I uploaded two variations to Spoonflower.com:

:high5: Great job!

Cindy
I absolutely love them!!! You did a great job!!!
You did a great job! The pj's are so cute.
Well done! They look great
xx
:hearts: They are absolutely ADORABLE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!! :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: Are you taking orders? Just askin.......................
Those are really cute.
They really are cute! Imagine you could zip up a few extra and donate them to upcoming rescue auctions. The sheepdog fabric is great!
When you say designed them yourself...did you actually do the drawing by hand or from some kind of template? I can't draw to save my life so how would an untalented person like me get fabric like that? any ideas?

They are fantastic! Maybe you should go into business - hint hint...I think you would have quite a few customers
I did the drawing by hand; I've done a few drawings of OES in the last several years. But this drawing I then scanned into Photoshop and created a repeating pattern with it, and uploaded that repeating pattern to Spoonflower.com, who then makes the fabric.

I designed the fabrin for these shorts too, using drawings I had done for the OES Nationals display banners:

You can buy the fabric I made on Spoonflower.com.

I know its not cheap- trust me, I have to buy my own fabric and I feel the pain. I just ordered 10 yards at $18 a yard- OUCH! I think I get 10% of the purchase price when anyone buys my patterns, but my plan is to just roll any money I make back into buying more fabric, to make more things for OES rescue auctions. In fact, this is a photo of the apron I made that was auctioned off at Sheepie Palooza:

There's another set of OES prints there as well. I'm also drooling over the Great Pyrenees fabric. We just finished redoing the laundry room, adding a sewing area........wonder if I can still sew a staight line.
it's a really cool website; I think you can enter just about any breed into the search engine, and something will come up!
Wow I'm so very proud to know you. They're just gorgeous.
I love them!
You are soooo talented!! I will order some :) just beautiful :)
You usually announce the auctions and we can bid without being there, right? I look forward to bidding on some of your things! And you are really talented! I am so envious! I love everything you posted!
Excellent! What a wonderful use of your talents!!! Love all your creations!
Did you follow a pattern for the PJ's?
ps- Is that a model wearing your shorts? Because with all the sheepie couch time, I have no ability to look fit like that!

I DID follow a pattern for the PJ's; Kwik Sew K3882 http://kwiksew.mccall.com/k3882-product ... ge_id=3032
I added the piping. But otherwise its all to pattern. I'm going to make those short ones pictured on the pattern too- they'll be available for the auction.

I will post a link when the auction is ready to go; it'll be on Ebay once I'm set. I figure it's still about 2 weeks away. We'll have lots more than just these PJs. I've got more of the coffee mugs I had at Sheepie Palooza, as well as a treasure trove of donations to pick from!

:hearts: thanks for all the awesome feedback, everyone! :hearts:

and regarding the ps-- that's our friend Riki. She's ridiculously hot, and often will model for Adam's artwork. She goes to the gym and does all the stuff that you're supposed to to be able to look like that. Riki actually came with us to our first Sheepie Palooza 4 years ago!
Those are great PJ's.....of course I love the fabric, and that is a nice PJ bottom pattern. :D :D
You are so talented with your designs, even if you did use a pattern, the fabric is all yours! Wow, so impressed. Looking forward to the bidding wars on Ebay
I am starting a sewing class on Monday. I am in the same class of seamstress as you Allison, and I love the fabric. I wish there were a way to get it done cheaper but I know how those sites work. When I am ready to create something without any horrible mistakes I will be ordering some of that fabric. I would love to make a comforter or duvet cover with it...and pillow shams of course. They would be cool as a trim on some curtains too!
oooh! I hope you enjoy the class!
You are amazing! Love all of it!
It's taken me a lot longer to get back to this than I wanted, but now I've started I'm hoping to be done in a week or two. Yesterday I finished a pair of sleep shorts in OES fabric that I plan to make available through the OES Rescue Network of the South East's holiday fund raising auctions. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out!

they still need their drawstring, but are otherwise done. they are a size small; my hope is to have something available in all sizes from Small through extra large by the time I'm ready to put the auctions on ebay at the end of the month. Just in time for holiday shopping!
so fun!!
Looks like a cute set of shorts, and the material...beyond fun!!
Those are adorable, Allison. :clappurple: Is there no end to your talent???!!! :roses:
If you continued that floral down the leg you could make long pants...very cute!
Both are very nice Allison! Great job!
I got a second pair of shorts done; these ones are a medium and in flannel with sheepdog trim. And I got a better photo of the first shorts:

here is the better photo of the original pair; they are a small in and a cotton fabric:

thanks Karen!
Nice modelling job, too!
They are all fantastic!!!!! I sew but I have never tried to design fabric. I can't draw a straight line. I admire your talent.
I taught sewing before they took it out of the schools. I haven't sewn in quite a while except for the Tshirt quilt I made to send a soldier last year at Christmas.
I may have to order some of your fabric and make something. Maybe over Winter Break. This new job doesn't leave me much time to be creative.
All of them look great you did a great job of sewing them.

Great pyjamas and shorts. Thanks for posting the pictures for us to see.
It is amazing what you can do these days, designing your own fabric through a website. The internet has made these things so accesible for everybody who is brave enough to.
I am planning on making a coffee table book for the dogs pictures which you can design through a website too, this is just one of many out there: http://www.photoinpress.ca

I wish I could take credit for it; thank goodness for hot, petite friends! 8)
I had a vison of ordering some of your material, making something, and using it in the auction at my sheepdog O rama this sat. as usual I did not get to the first step...but do have some nice sheepie things to auction. Your work is beautiful!
I love your prints. Great apron as well.
thanks guys! The apron was auctioned at Sheepie Palooza this past summer.

...and now lives at my house!! 8)
I don't think I realized that you won it! I'm so glad!!! :clappurple:
Gorgeous, your so clever :clappurple:
Spoonflower.com, the website where I made my fabric and have a store to sell my three patterns, is offering any fabric pattern as HOLIDAY WRAPPING PAPER!!!! I nearly fell over when I got the email! It's a 36" by 72" roll for $15, not cheap, but so cool!

Allison, I've been gone for several months - so long I hadn't even seen your PJ's or the apron.
They are spectacular! And the fabric is phenomenal. What a talented person you are.

thanks! I have 2 more pairs of PJ shorts almost done; I'm trying to get them all completed for an auction I need to put up this coming weekend. All proceeds will benefit the Old English Sheepdog Rescue Network of the South East. I should have shorts in sizes Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large available!
Well I've finally done all I can, and our auctions were posted last night. There are shorts in size Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large. Please check out our selection of OES themed stuff; all proceeds will benefit the OES Rescue Network of the South East:

I just bid on a few items and am the highest bidder right now! :clappurple:
Want! I love jammies and Sheepies.... together they may be the best thing ever!
Amazing! You are so talented!
so one keeps out bidding me!!!!!
I've noticed that the shipping seems really high; if the actual postage ends up being less than eBay calculates it to be, we'll issue refunds to the amount of the difference. Sorry for any inconvenience on that front...
