So give those puppies out there huge kisses for me. |

you could always have another baby...... |
My puppy fever is too strong... I finally enjoy the number of two-leggers we have [and can't fit any more in the car], so we're good there for now |
lol, I understand. I was the same way with babies years ago. I did homecare for a few little babies (with trachs)..and Todd was always grateful I was getting my baby fix, and getting paid for it too!! Now I'm just a grandma...get my fix and send them home Works perfectly |
Bigger car? |
there's an idea for puppy madness........places to visit puppies but then leave after a day of puppy play. |
Well you know what scares me? Gracie isn't even 9 months old and I have puppy fever!!!!!! I miss my sweet little 2-4 month old devildog Gracie |
Go back and revisit all those devildog posts... that will cure you. Vance |
I think you should start a puppy daycare.... |
haha... we've talked about it. We have 4 workers willing [well, for now..] to work for free. The question I'm having is what breed to go with next since I'd like to go smaller. I want 25-30 lb range. Mr. J wants a Kobuck (they're not even OES' ...they're referred to as Kobucks) I love OES' but I'm not sure I can handle the size too much longer. I'm hoping my friend having lagotto puppies will warm Mr. J up to new breeds (this being the only 1 of 2 that I like ...for now). |
Chevy Suburban can handle what, 9? Or is it 11? |
Here's the thing though Ron ...even our mini van "should" be able to handle more (honda odyssey) but we have big kid car seats that ALL of them need to be in. That 3 seater quickly becomes a 2 person row. I do think the suburban xl (??) was big enough to handle one more carseat (we looked when our newest one was supposed to be a twin) ...so it's definitely something we've talked about. You guys are here because you love dogs... I'm surprised you aren't pushing for a whole litter of pups or something. We do need more room for that too. Fitting Kobuck and yuki in our mini van did result in regular kicking and screaming from the girls who don't want an inch of their space occupied by anything/one than "their" pretty toes. Gawdd... girls are dramatic I want 2 dogs [of course not at the same time]. This is the only place I can talk about it. I literally call Mr. J and the FIRST thing he says before hello is "if this is about dogs, I've got to go.." He wants two just as bad, but I tend to drill the topic into the ground and then some... Like I have a list on the fridge of future names depending on the breed we choose. |

Well, since this still a (knock on wood) long ways away, those free helpers will be older and maybe even more mature and responsible! Maybe they could help make another Kobuck not so daunting, and maybe a sweet girl from a breeder who tends to have smaller girls.... just sayin'! |
I'm still open!! I really don't want to turn from the breed. I'm just trying to think about everything. |
Sounds like you need male sheepies - permapuppies.......... |
Bigger car = more floor room for pups |
Come babysit at my house. You'll be cured. Ava is being a snotty teen and Lacy is so much a puppy that it feels like all I do is chase her around with paper towels and a mop. I would try to scare you with the waking up at all hours, but you have human babies, so there's no point. |
hahaha... nope. I refuse to believe I will go through any of the puppy hells I ALWAYS go through when owning a puppy. When you've got this fever, there is no "bad" puppies. That's my philosophy on kids too Mr. J just called and as I gave him the new name ideas... he said the kids aren't going to WANT a dog by the time we can own another one. I told him I researched breeds nonstop (day and night) while I was in the military with the hopes of having something perfect the DAY I got out, and it never got old, so I doubt "this" will die. Lucky him because Yuki still has a good 4 years or more we hope! haha |

Abuckie wrote: Ron wrote: Bigger car = more floor room for pups Ron-- did you decide on a car salesman as your new career choice? Funny! I was just wondering why he was so focused on the car aspect of the discussion It takes me on average 5-6 years to return to puppy fever, I have five years to go Didn't we do a "puppies are awful" thread for someone to "help" cure them of this affliction? Though as I recall we failed (who WAS that directed at? Oh, wait - yeah, now I remember - big time failure ) I'm willing to give it another shot and 24 hours of following Pig Pens I and II around snapping pictures should supply me with at least 3 pages of horror shots worth. One day when Luna was feeling REALLY creative she ate both a sock AND a dish cloth. Care to guess which came out which end? She will basically eat anything with my scent on it, methinks: eye glasses, hair scrunchies (she pretends to snuggle as she steals them right out of my hair), remote controls, pens, highlighters, socks - lots of socks, and her newest fetish: dish cloths. I was just thinking if I am correct that it is my scent that attracts her I'm going to be REALLY worried for her aunt Sybil if she learns how to unhinge her jaw Obviously we failed Kim and David, but I think we can do better this time around Kristine |
Haha no... I like baby threads here ! |
I've been supressing my need for a puppy for about a year now...time will come, but not just yet.sigh |

How similiar is it to Sybil's. We have already established a genetic connection between Tiggy and Sybil, albeit somewhat distant. But they obviously have a very close spiritual connection. I see Luna is channelling the Tigster, BIG TIME. Mobile phones and Waynes prescription glasses were Tiggy's penchant. But she did eat scrunchies, highlighters, liquid paper and many other previously undiscovered delicacies. What if any is the genetic connection or is it purely spirital in the case of Luna and Tiggy? |
Mim - Luna would be the niece of Sybil. Bond is Luna's brother. Their mom is Macy - Sybil and Chewie's sister. And just so you don't think I have immunity...this is what Bond was chewing just last night! The grandkids left it on "his" coffee table! He has claimed it as his perch...and note he now grabs a couch pillow to sit on as well! |
Oh my gosh... he chewed up a ruler?!?! I think we've just had the sock eater ....and Yuki was also the cement/brick eater ...and Kobuck just liked eating our furniture and window sills!!! Too bad there's not doggie gum we can give them to satisfy that need to chew. They haven't EATEN any glasses but they both have broken 4-5 pairs of Mr. J's glasses. He's always FURIOUS when it happens but it's usually because "he" initiated some play on the ground where they walk all over his face. |
Ava has entered Phase III chewing - or at least that's what I'm calling it. There was Phase I: "Hey, I have little sharp teeth, NEATO!" and then Phase II: "Hey, my little teeth are coming out, OW!" and now Phase III: "I'm going to be a sh*thead, and chew up your couch, your fireplace, and anything else I so desire, so THERE." She has yet to get my glasses, but not for lack of trying. I've learned it's better to be blind for a few minutes of playing with her than blind for several days while I get new glasses. And woo hoo! I get to go through all three phases AGAIN here in short order with Lacy! She's still in Phase I. |
In Bond's defense - the grandkids left it right next to his toys....and I was really glad to find all those pieces! Now I have a 6 inch rule instead of a foot long. It is the very first non-toy item he has ever chewed...he's normally really, really good! |
got sheep wrote: And just so you don't think I have immunity...this is what Bond was chewing just last night! Thankfully it was only a 12 inch ruler and not a yardstick! |

LOL That pic of Bond is priceless |
I guess I'm about the only one who doesn't have puppy fever. I have two, one who is six and one who just turned seven. They are both by themselves a handful. If I were to add a puppy...the looney bin would be my next home. Although I do adore a puppy...someone else's puppy |
always a gentleman, even when being a bad boy, a creature of comfort. so aptly named. bond. |
That is a great photo of Bond. Tiggy ate a ruler and a number of pens and other stationary. Oh and about 6 wooden spoons and a few plastic microwave dishes all of which she stole of the counters but I mainly only count the expensive or really messy stuff. The rest is just puppy munchies. Oh yeah Mrs J she ate the corners off all the wooden outdoor furniture too and all the glasses that she ate, she only managed to get hold of because Wayne left them on the sofa and left the room. He was really wild with Tiggy and I was really wild with him, especially after multiple occasions. |
I keep a file called "The Cost of Betsy". It reminds me what she broke or ruined: - 2 pairs of Maui Jim sunglasses, - 3 pairs of shoes (I'm a shoe collector so this was a HUGE offense!) - my nephew's $400 cellphone - an expensive bracelet - the dining room window - and... my leg. The leg was the most costly ($54k for the hospital stay and surgery) and a year of my life. I lost track of all the costs for rehab, wheel chairs, walker, and many refills of pain meds or the resulting detox for the physical addiction to the pain meds! I didn't include the bottom drawer of my dresser, which she gnawed the corner off of, or the 125 year old trunk - ditto, or the family photo albums or other items which I consider irreplacable. The CDs, remote controls, books, etc. weren't included in the total either. Nor did I include the new car I had to buy for her that has a special cooling package and shades for the windows in the back seats. However, I did include the two of the five emergency vet visits. The first for an ACL strain when she was spazzing out and launching herself off of hills and the second for her racing around and smashing her eye into the corner of a table. All that... And I'm right there with ya Mrs. J. I want another puppy too! |

Have we ever actually compared pedigrees??????????? My mom buys me new wooden spoons for Christmas every year just because she knows it's a safe bet I'll need some Kristine |
Joshee woke up this morning crying because he missed Kobuck. Soo soo random but I'm sure it's because his mom has been looking at puppy pics nonstop for the last several months. I started to pull up old pics and man... it is hard to move away from this breed. I want another oes puppy!! Just don't tell Mr. J that because he's having a hard time at the thought of being open to other breeds, so he definitely won't budge hearing me say that. I'm so terrible at making decisions... I may try to start attending shows with my friend when she has room ...just so I can at least be around dogs. |
Joahaeyo wrote: I want another oes puppy!! "Hi Mrs. J, I hear you're a good cook, but please don't cook me!" "Hi Mrs. J, you don't want a puppy, we're messy!" "Hi Mrs. J, you don't want a puppy, we need lots of baths!" "Hi Mrs. J, you don't want a puppy, we don't like to sleep at night!" "Hi Mrs. J, you don't want a puppy, we just want to play all the time!" "Hi Mrs. J, are you ready to let a puppy into your heart?" "Huh, well are you?" |
AWEEE.... you tempt me too much. I wish Yuki was still young and wanted a new dog in the house. She loves dogs ...just not sure she enjoys sharing attention. At the dog park, she acts like a puppy. Outside the dog park, she acts like a rug in the middle of your living room. |
Tell you what, I'll send you Ava for the next few months. She's irritating right now. Digging, chewing, zoomies, counter surfing, leash pulling (again!!), - you name it, she's doing it. Except for being good. She's not doing that. I would pay BIG BUCKS to have a fuzzy rug. |
SamHeinous, that sounds like a deal!! It's funny because I remember wanting a rug too ...and thought those who wanted a pup were CRAZY ...everyone here knows I'm not used to not having a baby of any kind in the house. My youngest is getting at that age where I normally get preggers or get crazy ideas to get new pets The new house we're building was designed specifically to only have 4 kids upstairs [and finally no sharing]. |
I had puppy fever until I brought one home for a brief layover before going back to her foster home. She TERRORIZED Marley and Rudie (who was mortified that I would inflict such a little terror on them), peed on my rug and scratched up my neck in the 45 minutes she was there. Our next dog will be a senior! |
As much as i love a puppy...i cant wait for Lola to grow up!! overall, she is pretty calm for 5 months but i cant wait for the quiet tranquility of just being near your dog without her biting, jumping and attacking you...puppies are great but an adult dog is marvelous!! |

Remind me again... when does that happen? I've been waiting 5 years to be able to sit down without having a claw shoved in my eye. And yes.... I've had puppy fever for four of those years |
I get to see puppies this week. Thank God we don't even have a home right now to take one home or..... Lord help me! |
