IMO, no. A commentator was discussing this earlier and stated it isn't fair to compare him to non-swimmers. He has more opportunities to medal in swimming than other sports offer. Track comes in second. Is he the best swimmer? He has the medals to say so. |
I don't know exactly how you would measure "the best". The winningest swimmer of all time? Seems that way. Nice that he retired on such a high note. Though I've barely watched any Olympic coverage so far, I happened to catch a few minutes last night and loved watching your Jennifer Ennis win the heptathlon. To be able to excel at 7 different track events, bringing it home on the 800m, a tortuous - in my book, at least - middle distance, pretty darn spectacular And, of course, all the sweeter in front of the home crowd. Also caught the Chinese, Sun, break his own world record on the 1500m freestyle (swimming) He absolutely outclassed all of the other competitors. Makes you wonder - what on earth sets him apart? Technique? Conditioning? Heart? All of the above? Incredible. I only catch little bits and pieces here and there, have never followed the summer Olympics very religiously, though I really do enjoy some of the events. Just keep forgetting they're on. Kristine |
In some of his races hes not the fastest, but overall id say he is a great athlete. Personally i think hes great! I love watching him |
