I used it on a bichon first, which happens to be a dog am using for a grooming competition. I first used a deep cleaning shampoo then put it neat on his face as his a grubbly little thing always digging and diluted it on his body. I left in on a few minutes, rinsed then conditioned it. Do bear in mind its been on less than 4 minutes I came to towel dry him and thought he was a funny tinge, dried him with the dryer and there was a definate tinge. one of them where you think its white but need a second look because you know something isnt right! So yes my bichon has a purple head!!!!!! Sooo........ any suggestiong how to make him white again? Ive used a strip off shampoo also animology white wash, his in again tomorrow. I am so glad this happened to a small dog and not billy, i think the amount of time the shampoo would of been left on he would of been proper purple!! Ive used most whitening shampoos on the market and its never happened before. Ive got less than 2 weeks to get him sorted. Help!!! |

Lol, no advice but pictures please |
No advise here either. I've only used the Pure Paws waterless shampoo as a beard and foot whitener, but never the shampoo. |
I use their ulta brigtening shampoo with optical brighteners & have never had a problem. I dilute it 10 parts water to 1 part shampoo. After rinsing & toweling dry I then spray the no rinse formula on the muzzle & chin before drying with the hair dryers. |
Dawn dish soap will take that purple right out. |
We have you that. No issues yet but not cheap. Amber what else do you use to clean the face to get it white |
Well the dawn dish soap or fairy washing up liquid as i think is the uk equivalent worked a treat! Now the battle of the mouth stain. Its hard when its not you dog, i bought the client some eye envy which i know other people have used with sucess and at £20 for a trial pack i was disapointed with the results, but i cant guarentee shes been using it daily. I saw the dog today, its better but still very visable. His in for a bath saturday and the competition is on sunday so any suggestions for a quick fix would be great, i cant use chalks as thejydge goes over him with a comb. I spoke to a grooming company when i was running around like a headless chicken in a wild panic when he was first purple. They recomended a whitening compound that you mix with hydrogen peroxide, i bought some to use for the top of his head but the washing up liquid worked well. Am thinking no, but do you think i could use this on his chin? |
Yes,fairy liquid is very good on mucky sheepie bits!!x |
Enzymatic shampoos work best. Repeat washing/soaking cycle several times until staining is lifted. |
Washing up liquid did a great job but there was still a hue, even the judge noticed and confessed she whitened a dog green once. I was so nervouse when the enzomati, shampoo came this week that was green lol. I tried e-z groom crystal white heat activated, ie warm the shampoo up first then keep warm for 10 mins. With most dogs i groom this would be easy, but with billy.. i did my best lol results were really good and with one dose on a yellow mouth i found posative results! Try again next week, ive given up on the bichon lol |
That's a great shampoo. If you want to lighten it fast, wash it multiple times at once, making certain to let it sit for 10 minutes each time. So sometimes I'll wash it 3 times which takes about 45 minutes. And for a bad stain, I'll do that daily. I do use a heavy duty conditioner each day to seal the cuticle. Btw, once on the dog I don't worry about keeping it warm. My experience with bluing shampoos is that it goes from blue to lavendar to pink when trying to remove it. So I'd be washing it as often as possible since you have a deadline. Good luck! |
I have the EZ Groom Crystal White as well - nice stuff. Messy face Bond is giving it a good workout! |
