| They can be hyper or calm, Eevee tends to be a couch potato unless she has something to be hyped up about. It really depends on the dog's personality. Sheepdogs take a lot of work to groom, or they can be kept trimmed down. They are sweet dogs, and they love to be with their people. Mine is pretty protective, she's a good watch dog, always barks at things going on outside. |
| At that age the dog should be pretty mellowed out. When we brought Bentley home, he was 4 1/2 ans a snuggle buddy. If he seems laid back now, you should be pretty happy as he grows more used to you home, being all new to him. Good luck with the recovery and let us know how things turn out! Vance |
| Initially there may be some running around, getting used to things. But a 5 year old is so happy to have a home, the crazies are short lived. If the dog came from abuse or neglect, there will be issues, but love, steady resolve and gentleness win out. |
| My two, at 6 and 7, can be rambunctious or couch potatoes. When I had my total hip replacement I kenneled them for 13 days. When they came home they seemed to instinctively know to be quieter around me. Like Susan said, a 5 year old is so greatful to have a home the crazies are short-lived. Good luck! |
