Why are people so flaky?

Someone says they'll be here at 2, then they decide to come at 5. Someone says they'll come over Sunday, then "something came up". Someone else said they'd be here on Thursday, then decided they couldn't come.
All of this in one week! Why does everyone flake out on us?

Do you have home made cookies waiting for them? If you did, I'd be there whenever you said to!!!

Vance
No cookies, but I have a really adorable puppy, that should be enough to get anyone over here right?

Oh, and the person who said they'd be here at 5? Also can't be here.
My dad frequently shows up 45 minutes before he says he'll be over.

Since it's usually on a Saturday, we're running around trying to get errands done after sleeping in late.

All in all though it's a minor complaint. We're glad he comes to visit and thankful that he's able to drive an hour to get here at the age of 87. :D
If he shows up 45 minutes early, why not just start preparing 45 minutes earlier? :D
Being prepared didn't work so well for us today, we moved all the furniture by 2 because Jacob's sister was going to come over and steam clean our carpets as a present for Jacob's birthday, so all our furniture is moved around and at 2 she says she's coming at 5, so we wait til 5, then she says she can't come at all because she's got other things to do. So we were sitting on the floor all afternoon.
But yes, be glad he is able to visit. By 87 my gran was in a nursing home and we had to drive an hour to visit her. And nursing homes smell funny. Like cleaning products. I'd take 45 minutes early over the nursing home smell any day.
My neighbor was in nursing homes for 5 years, give or take and my mother spent some time there as has my dad for "rehab".

The quality of the air of most nursing homes is horrible. Most places stink of urine. You may be confusing urine with ammonia.

There have only been two places of the 8 or 10 or so that I've had the misfortune to visit that have been clean smelling.

One was the least expensive and most personal of them all. Go figure. One place had three beds in each room, there was almost no room between them. It was ridiculous. It reminded me of the Gene Wilder "Willy Wonka" movie where the grandparents were in one bed head to toe.
Nursing home odors vary with quality of care. I do visits for church members and have learned which care facilities will stink and which ones will not. Management varies and thus so does care and smell.

Crowding is due to cost. To lower the cost they will shove 3 beds into a 2 bed room, or 2 into what had been a private.

Some facilities, not matter if they house 5 or 50 patients, are just wonderful, bright, airy and pleasant while others are just warehouses.
Jacob's mom works at a very nice nursing home, she works in housekeeping and they make sure the place doesn't smell. So yeah, there are definitely good ones and bad ones.
