Her list of tricks she already knows: Stay Sit Kisses (she gives those freely w/out the command too) Down (lay down) Play dead Roll over Shake Spin (walk in a circle to the right) Circle (walk in a circle to the Left) Sit pretty (sit up) Speak Touch (touch my hand) Herding (I ask her "are you a herding dog", she speaks. Then I ask her to "show me how you herd" and she walks around me a couple times) Crawl (she crawls on her belly) |

What a smart girl! And clever Mum. Since she has stay down, have you balanced a cookie on bridge and made her stay still until given command to eat the cookie? Walk backwards?? Walk lifting foreleg..alternate? Thinking of dance moves. Play bounce by bouncing a big ball back to you? If you hold a bar low, will she jump over it? |
WOW that is a good bunch of tricks. Since she knows touch you can do tons of stuff. Like close door. Mine do backup which is awesome to get them out of the kitchen or recently to get a picture without them right in my face. But now they get the backup and speak signals mixed up annoying! Make sure they aren't similar like I had. |

Not so much a clever mom but an extremely smart, willing to please dog. These should keep her busy for a couple days. She just mastered jumping over a bar with the command "over" in under 2 mins. So over can be added to her list of tricks too! Oh and she also knows "get daddy" "where's daddy?" She walks over to him and barks at him. If anyone else has any more trick suggestions. I could definitely use a long list to keep Lil busy! |
We taught our border collie to jump through a hula hoop, that was always a popular trick. Make sure you have a big hula hoop for a big dog Bailey knows "up!", she will put her paws up on my shoulders and we dance around. You could teach her to walk on her hind legs, too! |
Teach her to put her toys away. It's more complicated, with more steps, but it sounds like she'd love to learn it! I had a friend who had her CATS trained for this! She'd clap her hands, say "Put your toys away!" and they'd run all over the house finding all the toys they had scattered around and bring them all to their toybox in the living room. It was a riot to watch these two cats running around for 5 or 10 minutes until everything was found and put away. Sounds like you have a very smart girl there! |
"Put your toys away" sounds awesome. I am a regular subscriber to krissykris1468's YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/Krissykris1468/videos). She has a lot of interesting ones for when your dog has al the basic ones. Identifying the toys is a really cool one, and it sounds like Lily needs a challenge anyway. You say something like "Where's ducky?" and the dog goes over to the pile and picks out the duck from all the other toys. Big crowd pleaser! |
Thanks everyone! She really does need to be challenged. It's getting more difficult, she learns so freaking fast! Heres a little video of her doing her tricks |
I love this! Some new ideas to teach Layla! Ramsey is still learning basic commands, haha. Layla knows BANG, that's always fun, I pretend to shoot her with my hand and she plays dead, everyone loves that one, lol. |
I love her she is so intense! what a sweet smart girl!!! |

Shes almost 2 and hasnt calmed down at all. (Not that im complaining. I love that she is still a little energetic, problem solver.) I will have to update with a new video since i forgot a couple tricks and shes learning new ones. My memory card stopped working shortly after i uploaded this video, so it will be a couple days or so til im able to get a new one. |
