Erin, if this is new, get it checked out ASAP, please.

How old is Gertie and is there any chance it could be a lymph node?

Kristine
Ah, get it checked! that's what I thought with Harry, but it kept growing. Now we know.......

Could also be a goiter, swollen glands.....
Gertie is 5 yrs. I have an appt. in the a.m. to see her vet. Her eating, sleeping and playing have not changed at all. I will post what the outcome is.

Thanks,
:crossed: :crossed: :crossed: it is normal or something minor. Harry is still eating, drinking, barking normally but he does "girgle" a bit if he throws his head back and swallows.
Just got back from the vet. The lump is part of her anatomy.

Wow, her's is really pronounced! I just felt MO, her's is really hard to feel. I'd still continue to explore your dog's anatomy, that way future bumps will be evident.
Relief!

And giggle....just a little :-)

Susan, I can barely feel them on my dogs as well.

Hi...so happy your dog is well and healthy !!!
Just felt a lump on his throat, he helped when he barked, first time all day, but he cried a few times when I walked him and pulled on leash. He is eating, not really drinking, or active all day. He is a border collie, so I'm sure you may know that is extremely unusual. Any other info you could provide before I get him to vets. I'm beside myself.thankyou.
Harry's lump was further down, not in the neck but below a bit. Olivia had lumps back behind her ears, it turned out to the a blood cancer. So it is important to have your dog examined by a vet and also to know their natural topography so you don't mistake a natural lump. Dogs do have lumps in their throat, glands, etc. So knowing what is natural and not is important. Later as they age they may be fatty tumors that can be impressive in size but inconsequential. Kensie has several, the vet aspirated them to convince herself they were minor.
