I'd probably go in, too. Shame that one of the dogs died. There was a house fire here yesterday. The lab woke up the owners & alerted them to the fire but she didn't make it. I keep asking myself, why didn't they try to get their dog out. I mean, she saved their life. The least they could do is TRY to save hers. |
My apt (triplex) did burn down once, I was at work. I can tell you by the pictures and the fact that one neighbor almost didn't make it out, that there would be no chance anyone would have been able to run into that building to save my dogs without dying themselves. Including the firemen. Luckily my dog Indo jumped through a window and led my special hound, Gideon to safety. Although, it took 3 hrs for my family to catch Indo. (She was not a friendly dog, one of those one person dogs) Unfortunately she isn't with me anymore (not because of the fire, she had to be put down on my bday 23 months ago) but she holds a really special place in my heart. Here is the hero. |
this just happen in orlando she went in to get her dog and sad to say they both didn;t make it out.. watching it now on t.v so sad |
Dogs panic which means they run to their safe corner. I know mine would balk and fight me leading them out by their collars. Just like horses ..who will run back into a burning barn as that is home. |
I would - and my family knows it. Living in tornado alley, we are looking at a fraidy hole for the lakehouse. I prefer the one that is dug into the garage floor, but I am concerned that the steps are too steep for the dogs. The neighbors across the street have a safe room (huge) and have offered to let us use it. I'm not sure they relaize I come with the dogs. |
