Quick Update

I'll try to be quick but as I tend to get "wordy" I'll try to keep it short.

I was going to move to Montreal as I last wrote some time ago when my partner lost his job and was offered a transfer 2500 miles away from where we currently live.

He left in Feb and I was originally going to stay behind to either rent/sell my home and follow him out in the summer. This would have meant renting a motor home as driving 2500 miles across the country with over 20 animals as I refused to leave any behind. The critters would have included dogs, cats, guinea pigs, bunnies and yes even the chickens as they are part of our group. To further complicate this one of the dogs is a Pitbull and since Ontario has BSL , Kaj would have to be on the other side in order for me to fly Snoop over in order for him to be safe as there was no other way to get him to Montreal without crossing Ontario. Thus since he would need for Kaj to be there to retrieve him I would have made the trip alone with the rest of the animals. Originally Kaj was going to fly out on his holidays and make the trip with me but we both worried as even as tourist we can't cross the province with a Pitbull and once again as the animals safety was paramount the second option was the only alternative. (Crossing into the US was also another option but I doubt if boarder guards would have been receptive to over 20 animals crossing and although all are micochipped/spayed/neutered/innoculated...many are elderly and senior with ongoing medical problems which is why I was adamant we don't live a single one behind as we were their final forever home.

Then we were told by a realtor that we would have to dismantle and have our former reno redone up to code as that horrible contractor scammed us. Thus I have been busy getting quotes from engineers and other folks.

I also was preparing 600 pages of documents and photographs for our impending courtcase due to the horrible contractor. The court case is scheduled for Sept. Since Kaj was already gone I did this myself while working, looking after the gazillion critters and looking after the large property myself. Overwhelmed is an understatement. :O)

Then oh how lucky I am!!!! I signed up for summer work from the school district of which I was told I would never ever get called...cause nobody does. ......Well you guessed it....HAAAAAAAAA

I signed up with the maintaince dept thinking I may enjoy the upkeep of flower beds at schools. Or so I thought. I didn't want to be indoors teaching summer school - I needed to be outdoors ...rain or shine.

I got called!!! BUT it was with Transport. Hmmm wonder what the heck they do? I have a class lv so perhaps they want me to drive a mini school bus or truck?

I soon found out that transport was preparing for the games....youth from all across the country arriving to our area and our schools are hosting them. This meant moving 3500 matresses to various schools, moving desks, file cabinets, 20 foot long computer stations, sports equipment...

So my 100 pound frame in steel toe work boots goes to work daily at 7 am and lifts heavy furnture all day long with other folks on the crew. Then I return home and look after all the critters. Weekends are 7 hours of lawn mowing and another couple hours of cleaning pens. Life is good!! Seriously! Since Snoop is the youngest and the one with highest energy I've placed him in that wonderful prison program I've spoken of previously. He'll be well looked after by the inmates who will train him/ play with him and take him up to 6 individual walks daily.

Kaj is coming to visit next week as I can't leave. Lastly after my hours were cut in half last year they have been reinstated for Sept school year. Sooooo in a long winded ramble....I may go next year but for now I'm staying put until I get house/ and other things settled.

Marianne >>>with very buff arms.

Ron may appreciate my "new temp job" as he may remember when I helped my son deliver furniture with him for his job once. I helped him deliver a very heavy cabinet...pfff that's nothing now compared to the stuff I'm lifting. LOL. Even the bricks I once carted home are nothing compared to the steal desks, and cabinets which we sometimes have to lift down 2 flights of stairs if they don't fit into school elevators. No complaints however, as some day I will look back and chuckle at this experience.

You're life and you never cease to amaze me!

You're the definition of amazing.

I continue to wish you good luck with that stupid contractor.
Good GRIEF Marianne!! I used to think you were amazing... now I just know you are CRAZY

How on earth do you manage all that stuff? If it were anyone else I would say STOP you are heading for burnout!! But since you are superhuman I won't 8)

As always, you are an inspiration. Hold on tight, get all your shizzle sorted out and before you know it the next adventure will begin :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:

THIS I don't know how you do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's amazing how you maintain such a positive spirit about all of it too. I think it's great.
You are something else that's for sure. Will Snoop be placed permanently or is this just until life maybe settles down?
Wow, I think I would have gone into shock faced with everything you're facing right now. Your spine is made of titanium isn't it? :D
Muscle vs. weight, jockies are the strongest athletes, I am amazed at small stature people here who do heavy work day after day. So you fit right in there......size doesn't matter, it's the muscle and flexibility........and attitude. I wish you the best of luck with the contractor, but know for a fact you may not succeed. You best hope is the work was not done to code.

You are amazing!!!!!

I agree with what everyone else has said....keep goin girl!!
Love your updates!

So sad that a stupid pitbull ban has caused you so many problems. Snoop is a lucky boy to have you on his side.
Sounds like a typical Marianne summer!

Be careful with all that hauling...let others do some of that heavy stuff.
I'm happy to hear you get your job back in the fall though. :clappurple:

Thanks for the update!
And what did you say you do in your spare time?????????

I don't know how you do it. Good luck with everything.

Thanks everyone for the comments! I'm not amazing, nor super woman but just determined. When you have aprox 20 something mouths to feed it's a good motivator.

Snoop is only in prison for 2 wks, as originally I thought after such a labor intensive job I'd be coming home exhausted and while he's been in the house all day it would be difficult for me to keep up with walks-. Turns out after the first day I am "pumped" after all that excercise and find I have tons of energy left.

Of course this is excluding the first day on the job where I was picking up the last matress off a pallet (so was in a tucked postion with my head down). When suddenly the 20 -30 feet tall pile behind me began to topple over and buried me! People came running and helped me out so my first day wasn't great. I had a sore neck and an abbrasion on my butt. First aid wanted to check but I only let them check my neck. I have first aid too so can check my own butt. :O)

When I arrived home I was exhausted that first day and after spending time with the animals I started cooking dinner at 9 pm. Forgetting about it I took Merlin and Panda around the yard. I opened my door to thick black smoke and the smoke alarm blaring! The yard is so huge I hadn't heard it until I opened the door. The question on the other post was would you run in a fire to save your animals. Well I did run in and evacute all of them, I grabbed the guinea pig cage (which is on wheels and opened all the doors to the cat rooms and everyone came racing out). I think I ran in a couple times and then discovered there was no fire only the black smoke which was caused from my now non-existant dinner and burnt pan. I can't believe how much smoke accumulated from that! Once my door was opened neighbors came running to make sure my animals were all okay as the sound was piercing. I had to stay outside until 11 pm until the smoke cleared. So my first day left me thinking I probably wouldn't survive the first week.

However, after that horrible day I actually love this job! We get on the school bus everyday and are brought to different job sites. We sing songs, share stories, lunches and snacks and have really bonded. feel I'm at summer camp!

The horrible contractor left the country but I'm working on a YouTube vid so that in the future potential customers who click on his name (as we did at the time and nothing was found) will see firsthand the scum of the earth he is. The lawsuit involves his former best friend who sued us and placed a lien on our house as the contractor didn't pay him. We countersued as he was the engineer who designed the 16,000 dollar porch above the 3 car garage (that is not up to code) and left no room for doors coming out from the bedrooms, no stairs and no windows. Thus in a nutshell I now have a flat roof over the garage which gathers water and no access to it. As the entire purpose was to have doors extending from the bedrooms onto the deck and a view of the yard. The entire thing is useless and unsafe. I hope to get monies in order to have the whole thing dismantled and redone so that doors can fit and everything is up to code.

I am determined that despite the sewer backup, fence crashing and reno scam that this house is worth fighting for as a sanctuary for all the animals.

Well that's it....I've talked enough! Again thanks for the comments and oh I have to share....my work mates gave me the nic name of MIGHTY MOUSE!!!! I love it!!!

Marianne
  wow Marianne! You are amazing!!
Nooo not amazing but just determined. The last three years have been so horrendous with my son's brain surgery, the reno scam and all the disasters at the home. To be able to be by myself this summer (even tho' I'm working) is a bit of a break. :O)

Thanks everyone for the comments however! At least I can never claim my life is boring!

Mighty Mouse who roars. :O)
If this is your idea of a break....go for it!!! :D :D
