I was in the front yard watering my flowers and suddenly the dogs came running out to play...in the front . I opened the door, said lets go get a TREAT and they came running. Close the front door with the dogs inside and go out the back and go close the gate. Come back in the house and call the bee guy. Tell them thank you for coming so quick but tell the person who does the spraying that if a person has dogs to be sure to LATCH the gate. |

Big pet peeve of mine! I'm so thankful that even if the gate is open ...Yuki doesn't care. I think the kids in our neighborhood open our gate all the time to see if Yuki is there (who is an inside dog and has never been left outside). "IF" she notices it, she ignores it ...she more worried about missing out on what may be going on inside the house. Kobuck on the other hand... oh boy have we had some chases!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It got to the point that I kept the keys in my pocket all day so I wouldn't have to waste a second looking for them (he'd only come if he thought he was going somewhere). haha |
We had that happen once with a lawn service. They left the fence open when Violet was younger. I worry about that every time they come that they will forget. When the lawn service shows up I close the doggy door until they leave...then check the fence before the doggy door is opened again. |
Bailey is a runner, so if anyone leaves the gate open there will be some serious yelling... lol. It doesn't help that I can't actually see the gate from the door when I let them out. |
I was the guilty one......left the front gate open. fortunately MO beelined it to the horse farm across the street and the owner grabbed her (in case MO wanted to harass the horses) and brought her back only to find the other dogs milling about or sitting by the fence watching traffic go by. She shooed all back inside and shut the gate. (I may have been inside.....returning home and having to hit to loo and forgot the front gate.......) |
Lacey is funny and will DASH out of the gate and RUN as fast as she can.....to the front door. And sit there and wait. She wiggles and wiggles like she just can't wait to go through the super exciting front door. And of course there is my personal favorite gate story: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=20493 |
I guess you could buy or make a sign to that effect. Us dog owners are used to all the weird things we have to do, I always notice when a non- dog owner is visiting that they don't understand half of why I'm operating my entire house like an airlock |
