I don't know what the rules for dogs are for 2 places I would recommend. You can always look into it, but Grreenfield Village in Dearborn Michigan is a must see...check out their web page and Mackinac Island is another must see. Also the Detroit Zoo and the Sleeping Bear Dunes as well. |
Frankenmouth, Belle Isle in Detroit, Tahquamenon falls, Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point, the fun towns near the top of the lower penninsula, Traverse City, Petoskey, Charlevoix. |
Cindy, (4myOES) just did a whirlwind tour of Michigan, (among other states), maybe she can give you some places to hit. Vance |
Joan and I had a very nice stay with our foster dog Winston at "The Outpost" campground in Tomahawk back in 2003. |
Grrrr, it's actually in Wisconsin not Michigan, and apparently it is closed. Never mind. |
I'm a light house geek, so we used to start in St.Joeseph, drive up the coast. Alot of towns too stop in along the way. Mackinaw on the other side, beautiful beaches down the coast on the sunrise side of the state. Alpena and presque isle are nice little towns. Grand Lake is a huge lake between those 2 towns. I think it's called the Fireside Inn, it reminds me of the place in Dirty Dancing. It's supposed to be family style vacationing. We have a vaca home on Grand Lake we haven't been in a long time, but we always enjoyed the area with our dogs. http://www.firesideinngrandlake.com Have fun. Lisa Frankie and Mattie |
Up North! My family is actually going to Traverse City this summer and we briefly debated bringing along our four dogs. You can find a nice rental house that's pet friendly. Izzo is, of course, an East Lansing dog at heart. I can't say there's a lot to do if you're not into Big Ten sports or college campuses in general, but I'd be remiss in not mentioning it. Everything in Northern Michigan is awesome. Detroit is fun for a day. Mackinac Island is a blast, too! |
