Saturday, September 29, 20012 will see the second gathering of Sheepies in the greater Dayton, Ohio area. Again, we’ll be meeting at Thomas B. Kyle Park, (it’s just south of the center of town on South 1st St.), where the dog park is way in the back. We’ll plan on meeting at 9AM. We’ve been invited to participate in the 2012 Mum Festival Parade and that begins at 10AM. So if we, as a group decide to join the parade, we’ll need to adjust this time so we can assemble for the parade. And that time needs to be determined as it’s not on their website yet. This year, the Mum Festival is scheduled on September 28-30. Our Event will be on the 29th. As with last year, we’d spend the morning romping in the dog park and then invade the Festival. They have dozens of street venders selling some pretty nice crafty kind of items, many locally hand-made too. Here are some local websites that may help plan the weekend: http://www.tippcityohio.gov/ http://www.tippcitymumfestival.org/Welcome.htm If you’re coming in from such a distance that you’ll require a hotel, there are several located on the west side of town along Interstate 75. If you’d like help securing a reservation, let me know and I’ll see what I can do. This year, I was also able to secure a discounted rate at the only pet friendly hotel in Tipp City. I spoke to Tim at the LaQuinta Inn and they're gonna hold a block of 10 rooms for a discount. If you call the number below and tell them that you want a room for the Dayton Sheep-In, (pretty creative name, huh?), you'll get an $89 room $76, but you MUST call before Sept. 7. I know it's only 15 bucks, but it's something and its $5 more of a discount from last year! La Quinta Inn & Suites Dayton North - Tipp City 19 Weller Dr Tipp City, OH 45371 Phone: 1-937-667-1574 Joanna, (OESrocks) was kind enough to set up an online Excel style webpage for us to us as a sign-up sheet. Please feel to use it to sign up for the event – https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aqq8HGPTWWwFdEh0QVhKVjF5d1JpUV9vampMSFVWb1E&hl=en_US#gid=0 So let’s see how many Sheepies we can fit into Tipp City this year! Last year we had 15 total which I thought was great for a first time thing. More to come... Vance |

We are already working on some costume ideas for the parade, including dressing Bailey up as a sheepie! Question, how many days is the sheep-in? Just the 29th, or the whole weekend? |
Jade, you bring up a couple good points that I should address. One; this is a one-day event, Saturday, September 29, 2012. Two; if we want to be in the parade, there is a theme and that is 'Long Live the 50s'. So think poodle er sheepie skirt... Another thing that I'm working on is something for the men in the group. This is a chance for any of you out there to have your Man Card issued, renewed for yet another year or reinstated in some cases. Located not far, (like about 20 miles) is the National Museum of the United States Air Force. And I happen to know a guy who works in the restoration department. On every Friday, they allow tours of this area. On any Friday I call my friend to let him know I'm coming, he'll give me and all those with me a 'special' tour. Keep in mind that the big deal that they're working on right now is THE Memphis Belle bomber!!! Since we can't take the Sheepies to the Museum, Jen has graciously offered to host an outing to the local outdoor mall that we like to take the girls to during this same time so the women will have something fun to do as well. This is a great place to shop, kill time and be an utter spectacle with the Sheepies!!! More details to come on both outings! Vance |
We're looking forward to it! Order up some perfect September weather this year, Vance. If you could send a little of last year's rain over here right now, we would really appreciate it! |
Just found out Casi may be on a business trip that day....what time is the park portion? |
We'll gather at the dog park around (and that's not etched in stone) 9AM and we'll break up around noon. From there we'll take in lunch wherever and then try to gather at the park for the actual Mum Festival. Last year Jen, the girls and I got back to the park around 2PM as we had to take the trailer with the tent and such back to our house which is like 12 miles away. Rob, it's all VERY casual so don't sweat the times. Also, there will be plenty of people there who can help out with the dogs. Vance |
Cool...well if she can fly out of Dayton we may be able to come in the morning! |
Flying out of Dayton is typically cheaper anyway! Vance |
