Eevee barks at the vacuum, and Bailey tries to stay away from it. |
This is what usually happens when I vacuum. |
Haha I actually read this to see if maybe my dog was the only one who follows you around while you're vacuuming hoping to get a turn. He likes when I use the hose attachment on him. I was amazed when I realized that was what he wanted. In my previous experience dogs seemed to hate the vacuum. Anyone else have a dog with a strange fetish like this? |
Crumpet would try to take a ride on the vacuum and shop broom. Kitchen brooms were attacked with glee, none of mine had straight bristles while she was alive. Now it's "Oh no, the vacuum, flee for your life!!" Good way to get them outside. Brooms are not interesting, " just sweep around me, hey, not my feet!" |
Bella barks and lunges at it and tries to bite it! |
Neither Oscar or Quincy appreciated the vacuum cleaner , so I used it as an opportunity to teach "down-stay". I would put them in a "down-stay", away from the vacuum action, but where I could see them and they could see me. If they got up to attack, back to the "down-stay". In the beginning, it took quite a bit longer to vacuum, but eventually we got to a point where I would have to move Quincy, because he just didn't care anymore. Oscar used to attack, but now avoids. I give him fair warning that I am vacuuming, and I have a sweeping-pointing sign that he knows means that he should get the heck out of the room. Since Oscar is deaf, I thought the vacuum might not be an issue at all, but I think the rotating brushes on the carpet create an uncomfortable vibration for him. It's the only reason I can think of why he would care at all, with noise out of the equation. Laurie and Oscar |
Yes, Butchy would bark and still does once in a while but he also loves being vacuumed with the hose. |
Georgi legs it & Sherwood tries to bite the hover end |
Violet LOVES the vacuum. She followes it around when it's in use and loves to lay on the cord. I usually do the vacuuming, but since in injured my knee, Chuck has that job. I find it entertaining watching him try to keep Violet out of the way and off the cord. lol Welcome to my world. lol |
Mine basically ignore it. None of them bark, or anything like that. Chewie always sits on the cord! I have to stop and get it out from under him at least once every time I vacuum. Harley LOVES it. He insists on being "groomed" with the hose/brush attachment end. He came to me at 11.5 yrs with that habit...and this is a dog terrified of storms...go figure! The rest of them basically ignore it, and I have to move them out of the way quite often. Good thing, as I vacuum almost every day |
When Betsy was a puppy, I had a robot vacuum cleaner in addition to the regular vacuum. The robot functioned daily. Apparently in her little sheepie mind, it was the opportunity to try to control it. She took to sitting on it and riding it throughout the house. It was pretty amusing for a while. Of course, as she grew, the robot started to strain under the pressure. Now i use the a regular vaccum. She just moves out of the way. But while my other dogs go outside, Betsy stays inside to monitor the quality of my work, but no barking. Interestingly enough, it's one of the few situations in which she does not bark! If your sheepie doesn't make you laugh every day, they must not be feeling well! |
Dublin runs away - as far away as she can get. Abbey finds it intriguing and follows it. |
Mulligan is afraid and backs up and barks at it. I think Jake used to be aggressive towards it. |
