Mattie is eating everything

In the last few days Mattie has been wanting to eat everything.
She has always been dainty about taking treats. Not anymore she takes your fingers off.
She then goes outside and wants to eat grass grass and more grass. She runs around the
yard frantically looking for poo to eat. (she's always been a poo eater but she actually gets what seems like anxiety when she can't find any. (She has always been a poo eater just not so bad) She's drinking more than she usually does, even with her DI.
And now, today she has new hot spots starting.
Any ideas?

No real advice, but man I'm glad my sheepie isn't the only poo eater...
If she has become ravenous out of the blue, sounds like there is something medical going on. Mattie has diabetes insipidus, right? The first two things that come to mind are diabetes and Cushing's. Oscar was tested for both a few years back, because this was one of his symptoms, though nowhere near the level you're dealing with.

Are you noticing any digestive issues, like gas, tummy rumbles, etc.? Sometimes dogs with tummy troubles try to eat everything in sight, and sometimes they avoid food altogether, just depends on the dog.

I would call your vet, and see what he thinks.

Laurie and Oscar
Mattie was tested when we first got her for cushings and she was very close to having it they thought then the test went the other way.
She just had her physical 1 month ago, and all was fine.
She goes in tomorrow for a thyroid recheck because we can't get it regulated. My thought was I was wondering if it was too high. I hope it's that easy.

Sounds like something's changed in the past month. As Laurie mentions, diabetes and Cushing's are what comes to mind
when you hear wanting to eat/drink more.

Soloxine influences metabolism. Just from past experience... too high a level can make the dog wired... more active, more
reactive and they'll likely burn more calories and require more food over time.

Hoping you'll just need to readjust the thyroid supplement level. :crossed: Sorry that's been such a challenge.
Thanks for everyones support
Everytime I look at that little girls face I forget what a challenge she can be.
A month ago her thyroid had gotten up too 5 so they lowered her dose by half a pill

Same thoughts...and I hope you/vet get it figured out and she feels better...soon!
Forgot about the thyroid. If her dosage is too high, her meds might certainly be the culprit. Have you noticed if she's lost any weight?

  She is a Cutie Pie!!!!

I hope it's the thyroid meds, as that is the easiest explanation, and probably the quickest to adjust.

Hope Mattie feels better soon :hearts:
Poor Mattie.

Hopefully the doctor will be able to figure out if it is her meds or something else going on so she can feel better soon.
Mattie's thyroid was pretty high when tested today. It's been 5 weeks since lowering her meds, and it went up even higher. It was almost at 6.
Hoping lowering it even more helps her symptoms. She lost weight also.
Her hot spot is terrible. They cut her hair around it, and cleaned it up. She has shorts on today, maybe cone tomorrow.
Thank you for all of the well wishes.
I will keep updating.

Poor Mattie! Hugs! :ghug:
