OMG

I was playing ball with Simon this afternoon. With Simon, playing ball means standing in one spot while Simon runs around like a wild man with the ball in his mouth

Garfunkel was in the house and could see us "having fun". Can't have him out there playing ball because he just chases Simon and bites him and BARKS, so he was inside BARKING.

Finally, I put Simon inside and let Gar out. I walked over to get the ball, threw it and Gar chased it...and ran right past it. Thats usual for him...he doesn't know how to play with balls. I got the ball again and threw it...Gar ran after it...AND PICKED IT UP! He ran a few steps and dropped the ball. I got the ball again and threw it and Gar ran and PICKED IT UP AGAIN. I told him what a good dog he was and he ran off again...with the ball in his mouth! Good dog, good boy, I was telling him as he ran around with the ball.

I wanted the camara but I knew it wouldn't last very long. He was quite funny, growling and shaking his head as he ran around with this ball.

This from a dog that doesn't know what a toy is for. :yay: :yay: :yay:

Woo! Sounds like he's figuring it out! :D

so get it dreamer has no idea how to play with toys but one day he do run after a ball and dropped it like what did i just do lolol
So it's true! You HAVE been way too hard on Gar all this time! He is just a very, very.... verrrrry slow learner!!
I can't get Ziggi to play with a thing. Throw a ball and she stands in the same place and watches it. Have another dog show her how to fetch a ball, same thing just stands there. At times it frustrates me untill I see someone who's dog won't stop playing and then I am thankful for Ziggi
Macy....same deal,. Six years old, finally grasping how to play with a toy

Very useful for agility training. How's Randy doing btw?

Good job Gar! :high5:
My Jake never played with a toy unless the other end was in a hand.
Mulligan on the other had plays with toys if given to him and will go to his toy box and dig through, pulling out toys he doesn't want at the moment to find a particular toy he wants (we never know which one he'll wind up with) and play with that. He gnaws on bones and stuffies and balls.
Their very different personalities has always fascinated me.
Carley doesn't like balls. She will bring toys back to you but only if they make a noise. She will turn it around several times before she picks it up so that she can make noise with it. Sometimes she brings it to you and other times she doesn't. If she wants to play she will put it in your lap.
If you don't pick it up she will nudge it with her nose until you play.

Way to go, Gar!! Might be a unique learning motivation for him, staying inside while Simon has the fun. Sounds cruel, but seems to have worked.

Good boy Garfunkle!!!!!
Good for him!!
I have a weirder one...I swear I have the only rat terrier AND lab that won't touch a ball or toy in a fetch-like game. If I throw it and try to engage play, they both ignore it.....weird!
:high5: Good Job :high5:

Bloo is ball obsessed when there are no dogs around
