Short Vs Long

Okay, so heres your chance to vote whether i should grow Bloos fringe or cut it. Vote once for this.

The other vote goes either with should i get bloo trimmed up, or taken back into a full puppy cut like karen did before??? Its getting humid, and ive noticed bloos panting a lot :(

Im not showing Bloo, so i think puppy cut is cute and best for him, its not fair for him to carry such a heavy coat in such humid weather.
So you all have 2 votes each, use them wisely, everyones vote counts, and ill take in your opinions and decide later on :P The poll will run for 7 days, which ever comes out with most votes is what bloo will get...

In my opinion if you gotta put it in an elastic all the time, you mays well cut it... BUT Id love to hear your thoughts first xx

I've said it before & I'll say it again:
There's nothing cuter than a sheepie in a good puppy cut.

Karen did an awesome job on Bloo the last time.
Isn't trim coat and puppy cut the same thing??
AAGH Cute either way Liz and Digby x
Well I think you know what I am going to say again & I think if I am right Vance will as well. The problem you have is his coat is too short & think & it will be better to look after his coat longer. Even if you take out some of his under coat which you have too as there will be a lot of puppy coat there as well. You don't have the heat issue like some of the forum members but it will be hard work during puppy & junior coat. Sam we have the same issues like yourself as we are new to the breed but we listen & learn & I think you need to do that now as well. You have done so well on your own & but you need to take the next step forward. OK Bloo is not keen on showing but having a good looking dog as well would help you out. If bloo scored the same as another dog & the judge looks at him and the other. Who would the judge go for. I might be wrong but I think it can help. Also as most of you know I don't agree on short hair OESD unless they have issues but that's just me. You might as well buy a short haired dog if your not too sure. Sam if you have issues with grooming in the school hols you can stay with myself and lori with bloo for a week & we can show you what too do. We will pick you up & drop you off but you need too speak with your mun & dad
IMHO...Just want to make that clear.

I keep both mine in puppy cut for two reasons, the main is I'm lazy :) , the other is it keeps them cooler and is less trouble.

From the pictures I've seen, Bloo has a thick coat, which again IMHO, is harder to groom...takes more time. Simon has a thick coat and does not like to sit still for grooming so keeping him in a short cut is easier for both of us.

In the end, weather short or long, a sheepie is a sheepie...big, bouncy and full of spunk. Unlike Lori, I don't think its wrong to cut it. We all have hair that grows and we cut it or it would be dragging on the ground so whats wrong with cutting sheepie hair.

Its your pesonal preference. If you have the time and energy to keep a full coated sheepie matt free...go for it. If not (like me) keep it cut.
I have trimmed Sprockets beard and around eyes. Next year I will proberly give him an all over trim for heat and to stop so many "sticky ball" seeds getting into fur. At the moment he runs a mile when scissors come out so no way could I do a full trim-just under parts etc-when he is tired out from play etc!!!x
I agree that puppy cut is the best. We will probably try to grow kenny out after his next cut for fun to see if we can maintain a long coat like Schuberts....but for the weather here, he is much more comfortable in a puppy cut and the brushing is a joke...so easy! :)
Last time Karen cut him, due to bloo having so many bad matts she had to cut some of him long and some shorter, so now its all growing at different lengths. His tummy fur if hanging down longer than the body fur etc... Basically i think bloo just needs an all over tidy up. He does look a right scruff bag i must admit :P
But if its going to behot like last year it wouldnt be fair to let him overheat. (Last year he suffered bad from the heat) As i said im not showing bloo this year so a puppy cut wouldnt hurt.
Also due to the agility and the competitions, its best for him to be cut down as the fur slows him up :( And bloo loves water! If someone has their hose pipe on, bloos over and in it! He jumps in pond, lakes, sea.... so short fur is best for the water bit.....

Hmmm i will have a think..... :lmt: I think they look cute in puppy cut and in long fur. Being honest i actually prefer him shorter, as you can see the dog underneath the fur. But thats just me.

Thanks for all your support and ideas. :ghug:
Honestly, i like when they look a little frazzled and messy! The groomer cut kenny's ears so perfect last time that I didn't like it. Next time i'm telling her to add some character and messiness hahah
Me too rob. I like them looking all messy and scraggy. I know the groomer we took him too before karen cut his feet so rounded he came back looking like a bischon! I was so upset, as he wasnt my scruffy muffin anymore :P
Why not have the best of both?
Come and have a good tidy up, give bloo some shape and even him up, get rid of some of that under coat if your not showing him. He will be easier to cope with being a water baby. Then if you feel you want a puppy cut you can always come back.
As for what to do with his hair on his head. i have always regretted cutting billies doo, although when i did he was much happier. His just fuzzy now
Ive recenetly cut billy in a puppy cut because i was so fed up of people making snide comments thats his too hot and hus crule. Never once did i take him out when it was really hot unless he was hised down and on his way for a swim. I wouls either question them why they said ut and argue my case of having undercoat, or just speak my mind of how rude they were, or walk away angry. Its never happened before and billy is 5. I camehome after a heated argument with an argument with an arigant man and scissored him. other factors of he couldnt go for a walk when we wanted to, or days out also i have been really busy grooming and he wasnt getting the grooming he demanded, i would finish work at 8pm and billy would run into the grooming room for his turn (yes he is a very demanding diva) and i would jyst give him a treat and fob him off, after 10-12 hours grooming the last thing i needed was an 8" oes!
Billy is happier, am not but at least he can go out for a day
I do agree with Karen to take out some of his undercoat if you are not going to show him
