Anyone have comcast internet?

I'm fed up with this stupid at&t internet! It goes out literally something like every 15 minutes while I'm trying to do schoolwork and stuff. I have to have internet at home to do my schoolwork because I can't get onto the program from my phone. It's also impeding my ability to get on the forum  When it goes out, it will come back when I reset the router, but goes out again in a little bit. My only options at my house are at&t or comcast, possibly verizon but I haven't checked to see if they're in my area yet, they weren't when I was getting my internet. The comcast costs a little more, so I thought I'd ask you guys if you know if it's worth it or not. If it goes out all the time like at&t does it wouldn't help me to switch obviously. I've heard mixed reviews from my friends, so what do you guys think?

We have AT&T High Speed, (HS) DSL and have for over five years. We have had very good service the whole time. Do you have DSL and if so, do you have the HS service? I ask because I think you may get a little better and more reliable service with the HS DLS. It's worth asking. Incidentally, I'm only paying $26 a month for the HS DSL. I nailed down a killer rate upon my renewal and got it for five years, three years ago.

We have the 1.5 mb "u-verse" internet. I have no idea what u-verse is actually supposed to be, they told me it's like DSL but "better". It happens to be the best they can give us at our house. I really wanted the regular HS DSL 3 MB connection, but apparently we can't get that. I'm paying like $33 a month right now for internet that doesn't work half the time, yuck.
I double checked, they still don't have the regular DSL on my street. If they did, I could have a better connection speed for less money, and it might actually work! I'm pretty mad about it. We also still can't get verizon. Ugh.

When we got our internet installed, they had to send a guy out to connect the internet to our house, and he spent like three hours trying to get it to work before he realized he didn't have equipment that worked with the stupid u-verse. I wonder if he did something wrong outside. Then again, it's mostly been a recent problem and our internet has been installed for almost a year. Maybe it's a modem problem, since resetting it fixes it at least temporarily. I don't know, it's driving me crazy though.
We have Comcast cable and Internet bundled. I know it's more than $33 for net alone. Happy with it now, but lots of slowness in beginning. All the houses on our street were on one "trunk". We got adjustments on bill monthly or so it seemed. Squeaky wheel scenario and ours is great now. At least, get them to reimburse you for a service they aren't providing.
I have many friends with Comcast, and they hate it (service, customer support, the company, all of it). However, they all are in MN, so maybe it's just a bad branch of the company...one can hope, anyway!
I have something called Clearwave - it's a remnant of a smaller company, which got bought by Verizon several years ago. Thankfully, they left Clearwave as a separate entity.
It is for rural customers (we otherwise had DIAL UP!), and involves a satellite sort of service. There is a sending unit mounted fairly locally, and we have a receiver dish to get the signal. Ours is "sent" from the grain elevator tower (tallest structure) in the town 5 miles from us...and our receiver dish is on top of our old TV antenna tower. The other source would have been from a town on the opposite direction - on their water tower - but signal wasn't as strong as the elevator. ;) Gotta love creative technology!
We have Comcast for their triple bundle---phone, internet, cable tv

I HATE Comcast! It works fine most of the time, but, when you have a problem, they have terrible customer service and often need multiple visits to fix things.

Comcast is the only option on our street unless we go with Satellite...so, we are stuck.

Many places around here have Verizon FIOS. Not sure if you have that where you live.
Hi, although I am in the UK I can recommend asking your provider for fibre optic broadband as this works like a dream even if you are at the very end of the line from the junction box liz and Digby xxx
We have ATT dsl at the lake. And a microcell for our cellphones because we are at the bottom of the hill. The microcell hooks up to the internet, so it is a constant drain on the signal, but we really don't notice it. We've had to reboot the system a couple of times when the heavy thunderstorms came through.
The guy installing the sprinkler system accidentally cut the cable (it was marked wrong). We found out late one Friday night (10PM), so I had to go to the top of the hill to call the issue in. The guy showed up the next morning (on a Saturday!) and spent a couple of hours figuring out how and where it was brought into the addition (it's a 900 acre addition, mostly unbuilt, and we are at the back end). He ended up replacing the cable ( a full quarter mile of cable from the house to the closest junction box). And he gave me his cell number in case I have more trouble. So I like their service (small town). Our only other option there is satellite.

We had Comcast at our house in Texas, until it switched to Time Warner. It was fine. They came out to fix issues, but it often took a week to get an appt I could manage with work (same with TW). When I called Verizon about FIOS, they wouldn't take my order (I had signed up our phone in my husband's name) and only allow one person to make changes to service. They lost my business.

Nothing is perfect.
We have Comcast too. It really is our only option at the moment. It is getting better as far as trouble and outages here--as others have said their customer service is really poor. They are one of those companies that have the attitude that they are doing you a favor by 'allowing' you to be their customer--

They have a new tactic that they are using with customers who have the 'bundle'. We do have that but do not use the phone portion at all. The new thing that the are doing to make life miserable is--when there is a problem with service, they will not help you unless they can 'call' you and verify you are you! If you don't have a phone on the phone portion--you are just out of luck until you hook one up to be called. Arrrrrggggg!

My children both have AT&T and feel the exact same way about their customer service and service.

It is a shame that there are so few choices.
We have centurytel telephone service and about a year ago they finally installed DSL in our area but since we are rural it only goes so far. We are fortunate that we are only 1-1/2 miles from the router but we still can only get limited mpbs, we just upgraded to 3mpbs from 1.5, offering up to 40 but we are way too far from the box to get that.

At least their customer service is decent and when they send a tech out they are prompt and courteous. We have a bundled service for phone and internet with unlimited long distance plus the other services, costs us about 100.00/mo.

We did have satellite thru Direct t.v., it was a joke and it was expensive.
I'm a Comcast bundle trio and have great service for all! I've discovered our outages are due to contractors digging up undergound lines. Service calls have been ok, some really great, some like in the Phillipines was so-so. Hate outsourcing!!

Could be your ATT system is just overloaded what with people streaming movies now.
AT&T is also pretty bad with their customer service, when I had to call to get them to actually connect the DSL from outside to my house, I must have been on the phone for at least 5 hours before getting anywhere. They transferred me like a million times, then I had to explain what was happening all over again, and they told me to try the same things over and over, it was ridiculous. Then they finally sent someone out, and they figured out that- Oops! They never connected my house to service! They guy that they sent had the wrong equipment and had to wait for another truck to bring him the equipment. It took three days from the day that my internet should have started working to get it actually working.

I really wish we had some smaller companies in our area, but we are not so lucky. I can't even get FIOS at my house, but I know they have it on the other side of town. They have the faster, better AT&T four minutes from here, too, because Jacob's parents have it. Apparently I just live on the wrong side of town.

If it comes back when you reset your router, then most likely it's your router/wireless access point that is going out, not the AT&T service itself. It might be time for a new router (we are fast approaching that point ourselves.)

Just a suggestion.
The router isn't even a year old though ):
On the bright side, the internet is working today and hasn't gone out yet. It's like it has good days and bad days.
We switched to Comcast in November from Verizon FIOS. Verizon did not honor their so called "Finders Fee" for giving them names of new customers. The Internet with FIOS was ever so slightly faster but Comcast speed is still exceptionally fast. We have the bundle thing and at the time the Comcast Rep. offered us EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING including their HD Premium package with EVERY Premium channel they have and 2 Digital recorders (one for each of our flatscreens) they had for $109.99 a month for 24 months. My only problem is they are trying to add a $7 monthly fee for my wireless router (which the Rep included in our offer) I just subtract the $7 from my bill and pay the rest. I have asked them to contact me but so far have not received a call. Other than that we are very pleased with them.

Us, too. Comcast has a monopoly in our area. It's really expensive for what you get, too. At our old house, we had Wide Open West and paid almost $40/month less for a lot more. Plus their customer service/service calls were fantastic. Every time I have a cable issue with Comcast, I dread having to call because talking to their customer service people is just torture. We have one tv in the house that we should be getting HD channels on after 7 calls, we finally just gave up. I'm never happy with a customer service where, as the customer, you have to explain to THEM what technical terms mean. :(
