I think ive found the right food!

I leave a bowl of dry dog biscuits down all day for when bloo feels hungry, and at 5pm he normally has his meat. Well he was eating the meat, he loved winalot in loaf and pedigree chum. But now he isnt even eating the biscuits!
By bloos cupboard theres half a bag of Iams, a bag of Beta, half a bag of eukanuba, a bag of frolic and a bag of hi life.
Bloo doesnt seem to be eating much just lately, so when we were in the pet shop i saw a freezer full of this frozen dog food stuff. So i grabbed a basket full of them.

Last night i thought id defrost one (It was minced beef) and i warmed it up in a pan and added some sprouts and peas and carrots in with it. Hiood bowl was piled up, i had a hard job trying to squish it all in his bowl. Anyways i left it to cool slightly then gave it him.
And HE ATE IT ALL UP!!!

Maybe we are onto a winner here :lmt:
Its 85p per bag but theres loads in it. Tonight its pasta and rabbit! Hopefully he will start eating some proper dog food now instead of treats :P

Glad he liked it and hopefully will continue.

:lmt: Let me think, nice meat and veggies vs dry kibble........I think I'd go for the mince as well! If you continue with soft foods, be double sure to brush his teeth often.

You can mix some of the kibble into the mince, let it get soft. Good way to use up extras. Be careful, smell the kibble. If it smells "off" discard it. Some go rancid quickly.
Need to keep some crunchy stuff, be it kibble or biscuits to help keep his teeth clean and white. Sounds like he's eating better than most of us.

I have read more and more that kibble doesn't clean the teeth. I agree with the brushing of the teeth. I will give you an example of what recently happened for me. Langley always had gleaming white teeth. Good genetics :) Laika's canine teeth have had plaque build up. Over the past 6 months I switched to weight bearing bones. Beef and pork necks etc. Not marrow bones which can break teeth. Well I was surprise to see less on one usually heavily plaqued tooth and none on the other!! I know some don't agree with what I do. But I have only seen good things. But if anything brush them teeth :)

The reason I say that a person at works dog just got out of surgery today and had 11 teeth pulled :( little dog aged 9.

Plaque and tarter, much like in humans, builds up in our pets most commonly around the gum line. Even when a pet does chew his or her kibble, which not all of them do, kibble does not do a satisfactory job of scraping off the plaque from around and below our pet's gum line. Normally, the dry consistency of kibble will cause it to break up as soon as an animal starts to chew it. The food is broken down into small pieces up near the top of the teeth, meaning that it doesn't usually even make much contact with the part of the teeth where plaque and tarter are most commonly located. Not only does it not clean our pet's teeth, but the ingredients in kibble can actually increase plaque levels. The type of bacteria that form plaque can thrive on small amounts of kibble that get stuck between and around our pets teeth.
Its BlooBoo, im on my ds so i cant login :P
Anyways, today i cooked him veggies and rabbit! He loved it!
Yeah, tarter is yukky, our one cat toffee is a meat eater, the vets keep telling us how shes got too much plaque, but we cant force her to eat the biscuits...
Anyways back to bloo...I have a tooth brush n doggie toothpaste, but i normally just give him either a denti stick or a bone. Ill have to start brushing them teeth. He has started to eat frolic too, which is a soft moist version of the dry food. At least he is now starting to eat food now, thats the main thing.

Thanks for all the info youve given, ill take it all onboard x
good boy Bloo for eating your din dins! Summer says can she come to dinner cos her Mum just gives her kibble with water on to make her drink more, and the old bit of rice, pasta or veg in. If I give her too much of anything else she has the runs!
Let me just tell you about my late mother in laws poodle.
Really spoiled tiny cream poodle. At the time we had Misty (yorkie) and Polly (oes cross). So Sophie (poodle) came to stay with us for a week. Such a fussy eater she was as slender as a model! First dinner time, out came the tinned chum into 3 plates separate parts of the kitchen. Misty and Polly scoffed theirs, Sophie looked at her dish turned her little brown nose up and trotted out of the kitchen. Half hour later she thought she would have a little nibble. Dish was empty! I stuck her out and didnt refill it. Next meal time 3 dishes out and 3 dishes empty! Of course soon as she went back to her Mum she was fussy again! :go:
