She got into a covered trash can when no one was home and stuck her head in an empty cereal box, the kind with a plastic liner rather than one made of waxed paper. It seems impossible that she couldn't get it off her head before she suffocated but that is apparently what happened although it is possible that her heart failed from the shock. She couldn't be revived. Tie or cut up any plastic bags that had food in them... Please. The sheepies are lost and I don't feel like writing any more... |

Oh so very very sorry for your loss of Kaylee. Thoughts are with you. |
I'm so very sorry for your loss, Richard. I cannot imagine how you feel right now. Losing our furbabies to sicknesses or natural death is one thing, but to lose them to such a freak accident is taking the grief to a whole different level. Take comfort in the fact that Kaylee lived out her life knowing she was loved, and loving so much in return. |
Sorry for your loss. Seems to me that type of accident a very tough loss to take, (the circumstances are so unusual and unpredictable). Sorry again |
oh so sorry for your loss |
So sorry for your pain but know the love you gave Kaylee was so wonderful, thank you for choosing her. |
I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for taking the time out to tell us all what happened, as it might very well prevent the same thing happening to someone else. I hope that you and your sheepies take comfort in knowing that you provided a fun and loving home for Kaylee. |
I remember reading about Kaylee coming over to your place for her slumber parties with your dogs before you made her an official part of the family. I'm SO sorry for your loss! |
Richard, I am so sorry for your loss. You gave Kaylee a second chance at life and despite the tragic accident, you can take comfort in that. I hope your heart stops hurting soon. |
Oh my God! How horrible. I am so sorry for your loss. |
Sorry, very sorry about your loss. When our pets leave us it is very difficult. My heart goes out to you |
I also remember your story of Kaylee. What a horrible shock that must have been. Our thoughts are with you. |
Richard, so sorry...sending our thoughts and prayers...... |
Wow, what a horrible accident. I'm so sorry for your loss of Kaylee, Richard. Plastic bags are all around us, it's impossible to think of them all as dangerous especially when they've been put in the trash. |
Richard, I so loved reading your posts on Kaylee. It was such a sad shock to read your post. I can't imagine how tough you are doing it right now. I'm so glad that Kaylee had a loving home with you. Words fail me. Hugs to you and your pack, four and two legs. |
Richard: I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Kaylee. I loved reading your stories of her visits to you and your sheepies before she became a member of your family. Such a tragedy. Kaylee will be greatly missed. Strength to you. Tears, |
I'm so sorry for your loss, such a terrible accident. But please take comfort in knowing she had 2 wonderful years being cherished and cared instead of dying unloved and unmourned in a shelter. |
So sorry for your loss, thank you for sharing this terrible experience. |
What an unimaginable tragedy. I am so sorry for your loss... |
So sorry for your loss!!! |
Oh gosh that is such a freak accident. I am so sorry for the loss of your lovely dog, she looked beautiful. I bet the sheepies are wondering what has happened. RIP Kaylee, hugs to your family xxx |
OMG that is horrendous! I am so so so sorry! What dreadful news. My heart goes out to you. I do also appreciate knowing about the risk. I would never have imagined it. What a horror that must have been to discover. |
Oh noooo. I never would have thought something like that could pose a problem. I'm so very sorry. |
I am so very sorry to hear this I too remember the stories of her coming to visit and how you went to save her when the neighbors no longer wanted her. Godspeed sweet baby |
Starting to get over the shock of this. I've always been an OES person since I was 15, about, oh, 50 years ago. But Kaylee was such a no-nonsense female, unlike most of the lovable air-head sheepdogs I have had, who brought stability to my odd-ball dog pack. She always showed affection to both boys like a mother hen, although Charlie was always her favorite. And I haven't had a fight between the males since Kaylee broke up the last one almost two years ago. She wasn't perfect by any means--the shedding and the fact that she got into things, but considering her past of years of being tied up outside I could understand and forgive that. She will be missed by all of us. |
I'm so sorry, Richard. |
Omg what a story. So sorry to hear this. Wow I hurt for you and the sheepies. |
Such a tragedy for you to lose Kaylee this way. I too remember the stories of her slowly working her way into the pack she was meant to be in. She worked her way into all of our hearts too. |
So sad to hear of your loss |
Richard I remember when you took kaylee into your home. I such a love for labs ,In my avatar you can see my beloved savannah and jack They are at the bridge along with my GSD bailey The only dog left in the pic is Guinness I do have another shep and sheepie. But could not bear to put a new pic up. Labs have a way of wiggling into your hearts Yes they shed ,some slobber, they butt tuck and seem to never grow up. Thats what I love about the breed. If you had know something like this would happen you would have surely done things different How could you know.?? I know your heart is breaking and the "what ifs" are beating at you. The fact is you gave her a new lease on life and loved her with all your heart, and mine is breaking for you. There are no words to make you less sad but I hope with time it eases and fond memories take the place of the painful one. I am just so sorry for your tragic loss and my thoughts are with you. cindy |
I'm really sorry for your loss. I've read about that happening before. You stepped up and gave her a good home and happiness. |
