They emailed an update of their trip and told me that the met Dinky the dingo last week. He lives near Alice Springs and is musically inclined. |

Most say that if you take them from the litter before 6 weeks you can domesticate them but not if they're any older. I've read that they don't handle being tied up but that could apply to other dogs too. I've never met a full blood dingo only mixes. It is illegal to keep them without a permit. Supposedly they can live to be 20 years old which I found amazing. You'll notice the owner gave quite explicit instructions to the young lady about not touching or making eye contact with Dinky. I can't say for sure but I'd guess that's a precaution in terms of Dinky not reacting negatively to what could be perceived as an aggressive pose. I'd love someone to do the same study that has shown that dogs read human faces like humans do. Something that other primates don't do. It would be interesting to see if dingos are different or the same. |
