We've had a rash of pit bull attacks here lately, so one of the area stations did an interview and such with her - because she does train aggressive dogs as well as doing basic training. And I understand that when talking about agressive dogs, maybe you need to use a more drastic approach. But Air Hornes? Cattle Prods? Seriously? Am I a wuss about dog training, or does this seem a bit much? Here's the article: http://www.kvia.com/news/31111212/detail.html |

Cattle prods? OK, I can understand having sudden loud noise to teach the dog not to react extremely.....but the cattle prod? No. So true about socializing the pup early on....what is it 100 people within the first couple of month? Etc. Becoming the leader from day one is critical...people don't know how and aren't going to be bothered taking classes. Thus the dog becomes his own leader. Another poorly written article for sake of space. If anything, this is irresponsible, sensational journalism that will do more harm than good as people will think pain and fear is the way to train. |
