Okay, I myself can say I have many of us here at the forum! |
|
Many, all via this place. There are people I have never met, yet I know if I called them in an emergency, they would be there for me. |
Most of mine are from here. The others are predominantly online friends via people I actually know....the "friend of a friend" thing! And I must say - Todd was hugely skeptical of me having online friends - but now he thinks it's normal! Number one reason is he is not computer savvy and doesn't really care to understand or learn... But now I actually have met many of you and them in person...that pretty much sealed up my case! |
Me too, friends from this forum. Lisa and I visit regularly after meeting on line here. And I'd love to meet many of you in person if you weren't all half a world away. Maybe next year I can make it to Sheepiepalooza. |
Jen was very much like Todd. Prior to the Sheep-In that we had last September, i would talk about some of the people on here and her eyes would just glaze over - kinda like when I talk about cars. But, after hosting the event and meeting all those who showed up who we had never met and only a couple spoken to over the phone, it's very different now. To help her remember some of them, I would say 'It's Lisa, the woman with that black white outfit you liked...' and then it is on; she would then listen with great interest because now I was talking about someone she had met and knows is real. Kinda funny... I also have a list of guys from a couple hot rodding forums, one of which is a big rescue dog guy from New Jersey. When he found out I had rescued our first two Sheepies, he really started to talk to me and now we have a great online friendship. However, I've found that some of those hot rod guys can be a bit shallow. Immediately after selling my '34 Ford, many of them stopped 'talking' to me. As if to say without a hot rod, I wasn't worthy of their conversation. Oh well. I think I'm better off without them. I've also struck up a couple friendships with some FB connection's friends. That is always odd at first as I feel like I may be overstepping proper etiquette, but no one has complained yet... There are a couple here who I stay in greater contact then others, but I think that is just a timing thing. There is one here who I met over the phone before I knew about them being online here and that was different compared to the way it usually works. Vance |
ashley You are one of my internet friends!!! and I adore you! I have a couple others from dog forums that I have talked to on the phone...I met Nita thru OES.org but of course we have gotten together many times. I too was very sceptable when years ago friends had developed friendships on line But OES.org changed that and then I went to a GSD forum .... |

I'ld been thinking that too: It would have been so much fun to meet you at Sheepiepalooza one day! I feel I learn to know the people here who wrights a lot and often at the forum. However I meet and know some of the ones who doesn't wright much here. The way it is possible to chare good and bad things that happens to our dogs and other stuff too if you like, is unique and makes me feel grateful, happy and privilegde to be part of this forums community, (even though my english isn't quite up to any standard. ) We do have a lot of fun here. |
I have way more online friends than "real" friends. I haven't actually met anyone from this forum yet, but I'm sure I will. I have had many online friends through the forums for various activities I'm involved in - professional photographers, roller derby, parenting... Hey is there a forum for professional nappers? I could make friends with those people. *yawn* |

Maybe next year I can make it to Sheepiepalooza. And the National, Mim - you need to come for the National. We apparently have an Aussie invasion scheduled for this year. Very exciting! I've met a number of people I definitely consider good friends whom I first met online, and not just through the forum come to think of it. Though I have to say that like many of the hot rod guys, unless it turns out we have something else in common, usually at least a quirky sense of humor, I'm generally not interested in talking anything but dogs, and my eyes will glaze over, at which point I aspire to professional napper status...zzzzz Kristine |
There is one person on forum who I have never met and we have become very close. I guess I would say 'true friend' We e-mail and talk on the phone a lot. We laugh, we cry, we listen to eachother. Some day we will meet. She has been very supportive and I can call her anytime day or night. Lately it has been about my Abbey. She has a sarcoma and it is spreading. I have no idea how much time we have left together. Her attitude is good and eating well. Ever since the staples were removed, 12 days ago, I have been to the pet hospital almost every day. Constant bleeding, running like a faucet. I pressure bandage but after a couple hours, gushing. She's on 2 antibiotics because she got an infection. She is actually at pet hospital today. Anyway, my point is she is always there for me listening, advising and letting me cry. The only person I have met is Dawn. Very nice person. I also appreciate all the support and advise I received when I was going through all the BS with "THAT ROTTEN COMPANY CITI MORTGAGE", and loosing my Gracie last summer. I wish I could meet all of you because this forum has really terrific people. And I really feel bad I cannot be at Sheepiepalooza. Thank you everyone for being the kind and compassionate people you are. SHEEPIE PEOPLE ROCK!!!!! Nancy G |

I probably talk more to people on this forum and to 1 person more on facebook then anyone else. She is someone I have never met in person but would consider a friend in a heartbeat. Looking forward to meeting a bunch of you at Sheepiepalooza, just wish this one person could be there too. Would love to meet her one day. |
I don't have ANY internet friends! Well, anymore. I used to have one, Prince Abasamia Nzediegwu from Nigeria. His noble family was heavily involved in the Nigerian oil business. I thought we were great friends, I'd do anything for him, and when he needed a mere $5000 to cover some bank fees for a transfer of some several hundred million dollars, I helped out without hesitation! But then he stopped responding to any of my emails, and they started bouncing back, and I've never heard from him again. It broke my heart. So I don't think my heart has healed enough to try online friendships again. |

Too good to be true; If he had been a reel "net-friend" he had asked for $5000,- every week after your first payment....... |
Hey, I had that same friend from Nigeria! LOL! Those are NOT the type of friends I was talking about! Personally, I feel like you guys, some more than others, are my good friends. we share so much...sheepies, yes, but then so many other "personal" things. I've met some of you in person and others not but I agree, and I know first hand, in an emergency, people from this forum jump to help! Maybe we should plan a "forum meeting" somewhere, for us all to meet??? But I guess we would ahve to do an east coast, west coast, north, south type of location But anyway, thank you everyone on this forum for being my friend! |
I have you guys & met some people from the UK. Online gaming I have been away on hols to meet people around the world. Yes I talk to people on the phone as well. My next stop will be the USA to make a vist while I am in Texas. So if you live near Texas & a strange man knocks on your door with a sheepie & that will be me |

Next year they will be In very close proximity, geographically - the 2013 national will be held at Purina Farms. - but not in terms of time, unfortunately - the national is scheduled for October next year. Sheepiepalooza is always Memorial Day weekend (last weekend in May). Though I'm not sure if it happens every year. Kristine |
