In pictures, I have to admit... I didn't think they were going to be too pretty, but in person.... Mr. J and I couldn't keep our hands off. The husband is nottttttt easy to impress esp when it comes to dogs (it's OES' or he doesn't touch or bother...), but he kept running his hand through its soft coat and saying "wow, he's a nice solid dog." Anyone else every own one or have experience with them? The owner said her dog is #2 in the U.S. She'll be at the PREMIER (?) dog show in Kalamazoo, Michigan this year. Her other one was parents from #1 in Italy or something. Who knows... she was meant to be on a board like this. Once you get going... she's very happy to keep going about the breed NO dog has been able to put yuki in her place the first "second" they see each other at the dog park. Yuki just wants to play [in a good way] ...even if you aren't ready to. This one put Yuki in a calm "lay down" next to her mode from just being so dang calm. (I hate this is the one time I didn't have my camera) |

Had to look that up and it's a very pretty dog. I can see why you liked it and it looks a lot like a sheepie. |
I can't figure out whether it IS cute or one of those so funky looking ...they're adorable. The video the guest sweetly posted is my favorite of the breed. they're coat is sooooooooooo dang thick yet soft ...I couldn't get enough of it. She said her dog had semi-long hair and I said "WHAT??!?!?!" b/c it was only a few inches long. That's semi-long?!?! Then when I looked up pictures, I see they are usually kept even shorter. Both of her dogs had the prettiest eyes ever (one had hazel ...the other had a light chocolate color) |
Ohhh I also was looking at those recently you know the if I would get another dog day dream and if it wasn't a OES. They seem awesome! Probably very hard to find and if that is so probably lots of $$$ |
Just Google the dog & not my cup of tea |
Cuties but I immediately noted eiplepsy and HD in this small dog.......horrible. "Certain lines" yeah, which and is that in the US? |
There is a puppy named figiro that goes to our dog park. He is adorable and oh so silly. Lily and him play for hours, he is a fuzzy ball of energy! After meeting one its defanitly a breed i woulndt mind getting to know better |
The breeder made it very clear to me to not get one that hasn't been tested. For that, hips, eyes, and I think there was one more.. I don't think I'd be too concerned if going to a good breeder. She also said so far, she's not too trusting of any breeders in the U.S. she said there are a few good ones in Canada. Hers is from Hungary and the other from Italy. She's looking for another girl. Hoping to breed the girl she has now ...and no, I'm not on their waiting list. ...just interested in general. |
Did the owner say if they are hard to groom, I know the video says they have to be brushed or they get matts but just wondering if it's as intense as the oes. |
She came off like they weren't easy because I did ask but... not hard either. I mean... their coats are just a few inches [if that] long. She said her biggest problem is finding a groomer other than herself that can do them since everyone shaves them like poodles (the face when they're meant to be shaggy esp between the eyes). She goes a few hours away if she needs help grooming. |
She said she got into the breed because she always had shelties and wanted a "smart" dog but low shedding, etc, etc. She said they pick up things too quick and many of her friends who have them have dogs who can open doors, get ice from freezer, ..just trouble makers ...and emphasized their love for water and attachment to owner. |
I know about Premier - that is the big show for UKC. I show UKC a bit too (Chewie is a UKC champion in both conformation and weight pull.). UKC organization is based in Kalamazoo and the Premier is like the Westminster is to AKC. But they do everything at Premier, as they are really into Total Dog (It's a versatility award - Chewie is that too). They have a big conformation show there, but also rally, obedience, weight pull, agility, terrier races and more. I have lots of friends here in MN who go to Premier with their dogs - amazingly, many top 10 dogs (in the nation by win rankings) in several breeds are here in MN! I also have some good friends with breeds accepted by UKC that aren't by AKC - Portugese Podengo Pequeno's - my neighbor and friend who has the Toy Fox terriers (her husband has them) http://podengos.com/ Alaskan Klee Kai's, and parti colored poodles. |

Guess I won't be getting one if they are that smart, sounds like something I could love tho. |
