Winston is a different story; he thinks the world is his toilet! He doesn't go in his crate or playpen but has on the den dogbed. He seems to have a preference for carpet over hardwoods or tile. We take him to the designated area in the yard but he may or may not use it, showing a preference for flower beds or flagstone. We take him out after every event; wakes from a nap, drinks water, plays for a while and sometimes just 'cause. Dexter asks to go out silently; walks to the back door, looks out then turns and looks at us. If we don't notice he sits facing us, staring until we get it and let him out. A few minutes ago Winston walked up to me, jumped his front legs up on my chair (which he has never done before) then trotted to the door, turned and looked at me until I got up and let him out (which was immediate). He made a beeline to the potty area and pooped, walked a little way and peed then to another spot and pooped again! We take it as a huge breakthrough! |

He knows what he's doing; he's very proud of himself and expects lots of praise when he does it right. Of course he gets lots of praise. Dex seems to join in, too. Yes, synapse are starting to fire. He successfully told us a out 4 more times thru the evening. We aren't relaxing though. |
