Ryleigh seems to be more confrontational when the hair in front of her eyes is short. Not aggressive just not more willing to back down from my labs like she does when the hair is long in front of her eyes. For example when playing with a toy, if she is playing with it and one of my labs try to get it she will "fight" for it ( no one gets injured and it is quickly stopped). But when the hair is in her eyes she lets them have the toy. Anyone else notice this with your sheepies. |

What I have been told and seen is that other dogs are more confrontational to another dog when they can't see his eyes. Dogs get a lot of info from the other dog's eyes and are suspicious when they can't see them. Maybe it works that if the OES can't see well enough to see the other dog's eyes they back off? Dex thinks all dogs are great whether he can see them or not. He has gotten in a crack a couple times with other dogs at training when his eyes have been covered. |
I never thought of it that way. Make sense though. |
