What routes are people taking to Sheepiepalooza?
Does anyone (excluding me) know at what times they will be at certain places/cities/highway interchanges? I've sort of roughed out my travel plan (keep in mind these are approximate): Leave Syracuse, NY at noon EDT on Wednesday, May 23rd and head west on Interstate 90. Pass thru Rochester, NY at 1:25 PM EDT. Pass thru Buffalo, NY at 2:25 PM EDT. Pass thru Erie, PA (at I-79 interchange) at 3:50 PM EDT. Switch interstates (from I-90W to I-271S) near Cleveland, OH at 5:00 PM EDT. Switch interstates (from I-271S to I-71S) near Medina, OH at 5:35 PM EDT. Switch interstates (from I-71S to I-70E) in Columbus, OH (small detour to get Zeke) at 7:15 PM EDT. Arrive at Zeke's house at 7:35 PM EDT. Leave Zeke's house at 7:50 PM EDT. Reach Interstate 70W at 8:10 PM EDT. Pass just south of Springfield, OH on I-70W at 8:55 PM EDT. Pass just north of Dayton, OH on I-70W at 9:10 PM EDT. Pass thru the very center of Indianapolis, IN at 10:50 PM EDT. Stop at rest stop at Exit 65 on I-70W (just west of Indianapolis, IN) at 11:10 PM EDT for sleep. Get back on the road on Thursday, May 24th at 8:00 AM EDT. Pass thru Terre Haute, IN at 8:55 AM EDT. Pass north of Effingham, IL (near I-57 interchange) at 8:55 AM CDT. Reach I-70/I-270/I-55 interchange near Troy,IL at 10:30 AM CDT. Reach I-70/I-255/I-55 interchange near State Park Place, IL at 10:40 AM CDT. Switch to I-255S. Reach I-255/I-64 interchange near Washington Park, IL at 10:45 AM CDT. Stay on I-255S. Reach I-255/I-55 interchange near Mehlville, MO at 11:10 AM CDT. Stay on I-255S (which becomes I-270). Reach I-270/I-44 interchange near Sappington, MO at 11:17 AM CDT. Switch to I-44W. Arrive at the hotel at 11:23 AM CDT. Mind you, these times are approximate. I may have to adjust the schedule a bit depending on when exactly my ex would want me to pick up Zeke. With that said, if any of our Sheepiepalooza attendees will be on or near the above route, maybe we could hook up and convoy together. I can adjust my schedule a bit to accommodate. | When you say you are sleeping at a rest stop in Dayton, do you mean a hotel or are you snoozing in your car? |
| Well, it would actually be west of Indianapolis, IN and yes, I would sleep in the car. I'm cheap. But I could be persuaded to change my plans if people wanted to hook up somewhere along the route. |
| Our route won't over-lap with yours at all. We start in Atlanta on I-75N, get on I-24N and take it through Nashville (Hi Karen!) almost all the way to the hotel in St. Louis. Its a 10 hour drive, and we'll do it all in one day. |
| Wow Mark! I am impressed that you are so organized!! Our routes don't cross but we are going to arrive Thursday. It will probably be around 4 or 5 PM- when we get there. Allison--maybe we can meet up in Nashville --are you going Thursday?? |
| I AM going on Thursday. I could arrange to meet at your place if you like, and we can caravan from there! It would give my girls a chance to get out of the car and have a bit of a run around at the half-way point of our trip! |

| Still trying to figure out our route, thinking of leaving Monday, stopping in Niagara and seeing Amber, and crossing into the US Wednesday morning near Buffalo. I-90 to I-71 to I-70. Last year we stayed overnight in Columbus OH, I'm thinking we press on more on Wednesday for a shorter drive and earlier arrival at St. Louis Thursday. I don't know how that jives with anyone else's itinerary and if we can meet up with anyone. |
| I'm another totally different route - southern Minnesota to St Louis, MO. I'm between Mankato and Waseca Minnesota - so east on Hwy #14 to I35 south, follow it into Iowa. Near Mason City, go east on #27, then #218 to Waterloo. Out of Waterloo, onto #27/218/380, thru Cedar Rapids. Continue south into Missouri! Follow Hwy 61 in to St Louis. As far as drive time, it's just a bit over 8 hours. Actual time.....about 8.5 to 9 hours. I plan on leaving early Friday morning....getting in St Louis mid-afternoon. |

| We're coming from Texas- 35N to Oklahoma City, then 44 all the way to St Louis. We're hoping to leave Denton around 9 AM, after we drop kids off at school, then its about a 10 1/2 hour drive plus stops. So were hoping to get there 8-9 that night. Unless we get our neighbor to take the kids then we can get on the road sooner.  |
| We'll be driving from about 50 miles southeast of Indianapolis. Plan to leave Thursday afternoon to Indy and hit I-70 West. From there we'd follow the same route as you, Mark. That's the easy part of your drive! |
| We are leaving on Thursday also, taking I-64 all the way. We should be there early afternoon. |
| Coming from GR: 196 to 94 to 80 then 55 down to the Lou. We may be leaving at 4:00 am on Thursday since Brandon works 3rd... As long as I can get to bed early on Wednesday so I can drive. I'm sure the excitement of sheepiepalooza will kick in and keep me awake!!! I'm so excited!!! |
| Hopefully if all goes as planned we will be leaving early Thursday afternoon!!! The planned route so far: 401 to 402 crossing over the border to 94 to 75 S. Then hook up with the I70 W. arriving in St. Louis Friday afternoon. Planning on firming up plans with Peg and Mark tomorrow night so we'll look at a couple of options! |
| David, We're travelling the same route and real close on our times. If you and Kim were willing to get to Buffalo a little later, I could get there a little earlier and we could hook up there and travel together the rest of the way. What do you think? |
| I take I-55 out of Joliet all the way to the Lou. About 4 and a half to 5 hours. Should be there early Friday afternoon. Cindy |
