Keeping The Beard Clean?

Is there anyway to keep her beard clean? Between food and digging in the mud, her face is a mess 24/7. How can I keep her beard white and clean? Do I have to teach her to drink through a straw?

So what does "self-rinsing" mean?

It's another word for a dry shampoo - which is a misnomer too. Basically a product you spray on the dirty part, and use a towel or cloth or paper towel to rub/dry it out afterwards. Like a spot bath without the water.
There are many brands of this type of product available.
I use it mostly on my short coated dogs for a quick clean, but do use it for the occasional poopy butt on the sheepdogs. It works good - dry paper towel for the bulk of it, then spray the spot, then use a new paper towel to finish the job. Oddly, I never use this product on their dirty mouths though! I guess I think it would taste bad...I use water and shampoo instead.

Chewie was messy faced all the time when he was a pup and a young dog, but at some point he outgrew it. Makes me realize that most of the time his face/beard is dry and clean now. He just turned 6, and I don't remember when it happened!

I wash my guy's faces pretty much every day. And they don't stay outside - out to potty and back in.
Even Chewie - I wash it because we go to therapy dog visits, and if he is in a kissy mood, I want it to be with a clean face! 8O

now puppy Bond is 6 months and in the messy stage - I like the straw idea! :clappurple:
I am battling 'piggy face' too! He just began to eat his dry food 'dry' without any water to soften it --so I am hoping that will help!
The only time he is outside--he is with me and I try to keep the nose 'up' and discourage the digging and rooting-

I do use a no rinse shampoo almost daily on his chin and neck area.

I do a regular face was with shampoo and water about every third day...

...and he still has a little 'piggy face'!
Eevee stays very clean most of the time, but if she's extra dirty for some reason I clean her off with a baby wipe.
Gracie eats and drinks like a, well, nothing eats and drinks like Gracie. She does not quite live up to her name in that regard.
Ah, I have two piggy faces. In our house, they get a tablespoon of yogurt as "dessert" after dinner and then they ahve "yogurt face"! Yuk! I try to wipe their mouths but it just sort of gets caked in...

Someone told me once to comb the beard out using corn starch? Works on matts and smelly face.
