We were fortunate that it was the middle of the afternoon. People were in lockdown at work. Many of us were in tuck and cover at school, along with parents who showed up early to pick up their kids. There are varying reports of 7-12 tornados. Several were huge. Scary for a population of over 6 million people and so far, no fatalities. Rush hour would have been worse. |

I am so glad you are OK. I saw on the news where Dallas/Fort Worth got hit too. We used to live there. We just had them go through Northern Kentucky and parts of Ohio and Indiana last month. Hold onto your hats. I think this is going to be a rough Spring in many places. Carley's Mom |
Glad you are ok! The storms have been wicked this spring! Our worries when we see them in your area are that they are headed here next! |
So glad your all OK. Woke up this morning in upside down land with increadible pictures on the news coming out of Dallas and FW. The truck trailers way up in the air spinning around like toys. Unbelievable no one was killed. Keeping fingers crossed as they start to seach the devastation of homes etc it stays that way. Is it common for tornados in Texas |
So glad you are safe, that is so frightening. The weather has been so unpredictable and angry this year. Almost like "something wicked this way comes". Outside of a few pop up storms with hail in some areas, we have had a quiet day. |
I couldn't believe what I was seeing on the news as I'm sure others around the world saw as well....Flying tractors! I can only imagine the terror people felt when they saw that or experienced those horrific winds. Glad you are safe and hope all our other members are as well. Marianne |
I saw it too....and while there is TONS of damage, it seems that the life loss will be none - or real minimal. It is amazing. Watching the video shot from the news helicopters, I couldn't believe all the traffic on the roads, and some driving right towards it! That Schneider truck lot took a BIG hit! |
Glad you are okay. I saw that footage also and it looked like toys being tossed around. The power of nature is amazing and scary! Cindy |
I'm happy to hear you guys are ok. I was watching the news during the night, wow how scary. the tornadoes have been so bad lately, I'm getting a little concerned about Hurricane Season. |
So glad you're ok - I saw that footage too and was just floored. I hate tornados. I've lived in a lot of places - Oklahoma, Missouri, New Orleans.... between the twisters and the hurricanes, I was happy to find a new home in New Mexico, where the worst thing we get is dust storms. Stay safe! |
Glad you are ok!!! I couldn't believe the 12,000 lb tractor trailers spinning through the air!!! It made me think of the Wizard of Oz. At least we have basements we can head for. Tornados have become so very unpredictable. They can come from and move from any direction, night time, hit major citie etc. I keep a bag packed in case I have to make a run for the basement at night. I can't even imagine the terror you must have felt having to go thru it. Again, glad you are ok and hope everyone else is as well. Where exactly are you suppose to go during a storm for safety? |
the last "big" tornando we had here was in 2012 in Ft Worth. That went right through the downtown area. I guess we were due. One of the scariest things that happened was a 18 wheeler trailor landed on a house a few miles away from where it was lifted into the air. Luckily the people were at work at the time. I think that is what saved a lot of lives. People were at work and kids at school locked down. If more people had been home at the time there no doubt would have been some deaths. Denton got very lucky, we had hard rain and our sirens went off but Im not sure one was spotted here. |
Fortunately, we live in the Plano "bubble" and most of the bad stuff happens south of us. It was pretty funny to see us ordering parents to tuck and cover - their kids behave much better. One of the nearby schools was lockeddown for almost two hours. |
