Family water glass

Kim keeps a water glass on a little night table next to our bed. Last night, we were lying in bed, Mady and Gracie were up getting snuggles, when Virginia walks over to the night table and without hesitation drinks from the glass. She drinks half of it, then wanders off. There was no hesitation, no sniffing, she just walked up to it and started drinking like it's something she's done many times before--which she most definitely has!! Kim realized that many nights it seems like she's drank more water than she thought, and she actually suspected I was drinking from it. Nope. Mystery solved. Kim has been sharing her night-time water glass with Virginia, probably for a couple of months. Kim was horrified. I was sick from laughing.

I love my Virginia :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

Poor Kim :ghug:

:high5: to Virginia

Taylor is always trying to share my morning coffee...like he needs caffeine  I have had to dump the cup a few times
A new version of a doggie kiss. Set out two glasses, one for Virginia and one for kim with a top on it..maybe even a pint jar and lid. Don't want to disappoint Virginia by removing her glass.
That is so cute. Kim, just don't let your mind go to what you may have been drinking. :santa: ..anyway. Chuck likes to snack at night and if he doesn't pick up in he morning, China checks out what is left and helps herself. lol I keep a bottle with a top on my night stand.
And yet another reason I always have a capped container for my beverages, 24-7. Cats and their tails are notorious for finding open containers!

Oh David, this story made me laugh out loud! I can picture Kim's face when she saw that and you laughing until you almost fell out of bed!.....lol

Cindy
      Now THAT'S FUNNY!!!!!    I just read this out loud to a few people here at work and hysterical laughter. Kinda makes ya wonder what else Virginia is sharing with Kim or even you, David!! And have you been aware of this for the last couple months? :potstir:

Mine just paw glasses until the fall off whatever they're sitting on. The ferrets on the other hand, will simply crawl inside said glass until an enormous mess is made. Either way, it always ends with a broken glass. I've invested heavily in plastic.
Somehow I can see David keeping this little tidbit to himself for a while until he just had to share.

Poor Kim.
Ah yes, that is a good one!

I'm a klutz myself, and blind without my glasses, so whenever I bring a water glass into the bedroom, it's a Tupperware with a sippy top. They don't break if knocked down and don't leak more than a drip or two when they initially fall.
So accomodating of Kim to be providing a glass of water for when the late night thirsties hit. :high5:

It's the cat here, he wakes me at night lapping up my water. Now I keep a drinks coaster on top of the glass to keep him out.

Well, Virginia was thirsty......and she didn't want to wake mommy cause that would be impolite......so she just helped herself :high5:
That was very considerate of you, Virginia!!! :P

Love it! Sorry Kim.....but it is very funny.
Where were all of you with your sippy cup advice BEFORE this happened??
Oh that is really funny! Often what we don't know is a good thing!

I bet you experienced folks just sit back grinning and wait for it all to happen to us newbies.
You could always get a taller night table that is out of Virginia's reach. I like the sippy cup for you and another glass fo Virginia, than everyone is happy

I felt like Lucy in Charlie Brown, when she accidentally kissed Snoopy!

Come on! 8O Just what preytell is so horrifying about this? Sharing a glass of water with your kids? :headbang: Seems like a pretty normal thing to do for any dog parent to me. Heck, there are many a time when I am sitting in "my" chair watching tv with a pint mug of water in my hand or resting it on the arm of the chair and Virgil or Dawn will come over and make it very clear they want a drink and that I should lower it to an appropriate level, which I do. They have their drink and if I am lucky no one else is lined up for the rest so I get a bit more for myself. Even our Afghans do the same, except that they are tall enough that I don't need to lower the glass for them and with those long noses and hence extra-long tongues they can clean the bottom of any mug I have. How can this be any different that getting a kiss from them? The only problem is that sometimes Farouk gets quite dribbly when he has a drink so I always have to check that there is no "backwash" before I have what may be left.

And it doesn't stop at water either. Both Virgil and Dawn love bread and butter/margarine so if I am having a slice or two as a snack they are on me "like white on rice" to get "their" share. I'll take a bite, let Virgie take his bit, I get a second bite and Dawnie will finish what is left. If I am feeling really stingy I will limit the amount of bread that the kids can bite of so I get a third small bite for myself after Dawn ahs had hers..... It is a really big challenge to get a whole slice of bread and butter to myself - nigh on impossible in fact unless I get really obstinate and tell them very forcefully "NOT YOURS"!! And I haven't even mentioned Michele or I trying to get a fried egg to ourselves.....

Sheesh, concerned about sharing a bit of water with a kid...... Noobies...
i knew a certain sheepie who with a puddle on the kitchen floor and water still dripping from his face would give me the bill clinton, "i was not in that bathroom."
but, that same sheepie thinking the coast was clear, could most carefully tongue my drink without a dribble. i need coffee, sheepies don't.
now the ninja afghan, from upside down laying on couch watched you leave the room, stole some of your drink w/o a dribble and returned to said position in 3.87 seconds. :cow:

:wag:

That is hilarious! When Oscar wants a drink, or ice cubes, he stares at the glass. And stares at the glass. And stares at the glass. After a few minutes, he pokes the glass with his nose. We try to get him a drink before the "nose poke". Sometimes he is gentle, and sometimes a full glass of ice water goes flying across the table.

I have my dad to thank for this one. Oscar never cared about a drinking glass until my dad started giving him ice cubes out of his glass of Pepsi, while in the hot tub on vacation in Florida. (My dad was in the hot tub, not Oscar. 8) ) Once Oscar saw that our glasses were full of ice cubes, he's been knocking them over ever since.
