Pearl Tallman, the best kitty ever 3/1995-3/31/2012 Aaron had wanted a pet so much when he was almost 10, but with me working and all the other things the kids were into, there was no time for a dog. So for Aaron's 10th birthday he got Pearl. She was only8 weeks old and a bundle of white. She immediatly took over everyones heart. She was a tough girl as well. When it was time to have her "fixed" I brought her home from the vet's and the first thing she did was jump on the counter to the top of my cupboards. "Hey, didn't you hear the vet tell you not to jump?!" That was her way, tough cat and great lizard hunter. When we moved to Florida from MI 9 yrs ago, Pearl sat in her carrier between Chuck/me in the U-Haul. Never a peep out of her. I'd stick my finger in the hole and "pet" her and we both talked to her. She was such a good passenger. Our move to Florida were her best years. Once we adopted Violet, shortly after we arrived, with the install of a doggy door, Pearl became and indoor/outdoor cat. She loved the outdoors. I would watch that little white ball of fur running across the backyard in her pursuit of happiness. She even started to use the litter box less and less and soon she only went potty outside, like the dogs. With each dog that joined the family, she let them know who was boss. i can still see her pawing the heck out of the dogs noses, and the dogs would just sit there and wonder what the heck? Pearl had not been doing well for about the last month. She had that horrible weekend about a month ago that I thought she was going then, but she bounced back. I knew it was just the beginning of the end. I've read on here more then once of how they will ralley for a few weeks and then go down and not come back...that is what Pearl did. I so much wanted Pearl to pass at home with her family, house she knew, familiar smells and sounds...of her family living it's day. I took her out in the morning and layed her on a rug on the patio, at her fav spot with her back up against the wall, her fav position. That is usually where she would spend her mornings while breakfast digest. Once it got too warm out I brought her in and layed her on her new blanket and she could see outside through the sliding doors. Aaron came by in the afternoon to say "good bye" to Pearl. I think she was waiting for him...she passed within 2 hours of him leaving. Thank you God for sharing your beautiful creature, with my family and me we have been blessed. Run free beautiful Pearl...... Tears, |

I was going through the same decision making of when...I knew my Pearl was nearing the end when you posted. I can't believe that they left this earth within days of each other. If my Pearl had survived the weekend, I was going to take her in Monday. I'm so glad her suffering is over, even though mine has just begun. I will picture Pearl the sheepie and Pearl the cat running and playing along the lake. Peace to you in your sorrow... |
I'm so sorry for your loss of Pearl, Helen. I'm glad she was at home surrounded by family when she passed. Run free at the Bridge, Pearl. Give a little "bat of love" greeting (or two) to a few of our bobtail friends. |
Thank you all so much for all your kind wishes and words. You will never know how much they mean to my family and me.. Today has been a really rough day. We were able to take Pearl to the cremitorium today, and she should be ready to be come back home in about a week. |
So very sorry for your loss of your sweet kitty Pearl. Special thoughts for you at this difficult time and Hugs to you and your family. |
Helen, we started the year with eight cats and now have seven so we know what you're going through. Sadly, several of our other cats are getting up there in age and we both know it's only a matter of time for them. This just makes us make the best of the time we still have. Knowing how you love you 'pets', I'm sure Pearl is fine. Sadly we probably can't say the same for you and your family. Take strength knowing she was loved, spoiled and well taken care of. God speed Pearl... we hardly knew you. Vance and Jen |
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I've lost two beloved cats, they take up so much space in your heart and your life for such small creatures. Thinking of you at this sad time. |

Hi, I deeply sorry for the loss of your sweet Pearl. I found it touching you you mentioned the two Pearls at the Rainbow Bridge. Two beautiful gems who were appropriately named. Your memorial was so beautiful and heartfelt it moved me to tears. I know Pearl left her pawprints on your heart. The loss of one so special is so difficult and I wish I could hug you through the screen. Please give my condolences to all of your family. Marianne |
Thinking of you during this difficult time. Have fun at the Bridge, Pearl! |
