bloos ready!

took bloo to be weighed at vets today. 32kg!! :) she said its the right weight so thats all ok
AND ... bloos booked in for 14th april to be neutered!!
im really nervous though, i know bloos still young at 1, but i believe its best for his health.
im not breeding or showing from him so i think its ok, and hopefully itll calm him down n take some dominance outta him. i am all for neutering but im really scared about this...the cats are neutered but it seems differrnt with bloo.
oh well, lets get it over with, its got to be done :‛(

Bloo will be fine! I've always had male dogs and they were neutered and everything was okay. Hardest part was trying to keep him calm after a day...When they first come home - is Bloo staying overnight? - my dogs didn't. They came home the same day. When they first come home, expect, tiredness...sleepy...maybe not hungry. The Doc will send him home with instructions and maybe a cone...You can look up the Comfy cone if he needs a cone to wear. Its much nicer! But not sure availabe in the UK...

Biggest thing is keeping him from jumping and running the first ten days, if I remember the time frame right. The Doc will let you know...Don't worry. He'll be okay!
We had Brick neutered at 6 months and he breezed thru it.
It was like nothing was even done to him.
thankyou, im a little more confident now :) we take him in morning and pick him up at night, so he stops the day not the night. im just worried something will happen.
vet says road walking for a week n avoid jumping/running!!!what on earth am i going to do with him cooped up in the house for a week!!!! feeling stress already.

when bailey came home from being spayed, all she wanted to do for the first week was sleep on the couch. So if he's anything like Bailey, he shouldn't be too much trouble.
Hi,

Well your boy is growing up and ready for his neuter! Not to worry I'm sure he will breeze throught the surgery. Yes, there is always a slight risk with any surgery while an animal is out but I trust Bloo is in good hands with your vet.

Volunteering for numerous rescues/shelters I've personally brought in or looked after aprox 200 animals over a period of years after their surgery. (At the moment I'm looking after 5 recently spayed bunnies)

In the hundreds of years I've been doing this :D ,there have only been 2 female cats who had complications as the spays are more complicated than what is done for males. Even then, the effects were controlled with medication and just make sure you watch out for swelling or redness but that usually is more apparent on a female's belly. Your boy may want to lick the area (reason for the cone ) which they seem to dislike more than anything that was done to them.

Your boy will appear to be under the weather for aprox 24 hrs after the surgery (and may get sent home with a lovely cone) and then be the bouncy boy you know and love.

The hormones take a few weeks to disipate from the body after neuters so while it's not immediate you may see a noticable change in behavior after that. Give that boy a belly rub from me and hugs to his worried mom.
