Roll over. Get her to a lay down and the roll over with bait. Vance |
Vance wrote: Roll over. Get her to a lay down and the roll over with bait. Vance Can you be more specific in your instructions? Where do I hold the bait? I hold it then spin it around? I am hopeless, Vance. Why don't you just pop over and teach her for me! |
Here are the tricks lily knows besides the 3 that you mentioned. Touch-my hand with her nose Circle-spin to the right in a circle spin-spin to the left in a circle Crawl-crawl on her tummy speak-bark bang-play dead Rollover Sit pretty/sit up If any them are one you would be interested in. Tell me and i will give you a step by step of the trick. In my opinion spin and touch are the easiest of those to teach. |
For touch you just put your hand to her nose and say touch, then treat her. She will eventually get it and touch your hand by herself. Spin, you let her see the treat and let her follow it in a circle. Say your, thats what i want word/clicker, then say spin and treat her. She will eventually get it and do it on her own. Just remember tricks take lots of practice and treats at first. |
Thank you! I will get to work on those. |
Oh remember, it is much easier to teach one trick at a time. Once she has learned one, then move on to the next. Oh and make sure you get video of her doing the trick. Gracie is so cute! |
I love back up because then you can use that like to get them out of the kitchen |
Tiggy says teach Gracie to touch a fairy wand, its really cute. 1. Buy a cute fairy wand from the 2 dollar shop or local equivalent. Tiggy's is silver and pink with sparkling diamonds on it. 2. Have a pocket full of Gracie's favorite treats. (they have to be good) 3. You and Gracie in room with no distractions (ie the big girls are elsewhere) 4. Hold the wand out in front of Gracie, have a treat ready. Gracie is almost certain to sniff at or at least pay some attention to the wand. REWARD her. 5. Tighten your criteria from some attention to, to actually nosing the wand before you treat. 6. 10ish treats and then a rest. You can practise every half hour or so. 7. Don't get sloppy, if Gracie has been touching the wand with her nose, don't slip back when you/she get bored and treat for nose one inch a way, nose touch only. 8. Patience, my experience is Tiggy went backwards slightly right before she GOT it. 9. Definitely only one trick at a time or its too confusing. Kids especially little girls go crazy when they find out Tiggy knows about fairy wands. They will stand and play 'touch the wand' for ages. Rastus drops dead when I make a gun with my fingers and say "bang", the boys are much more into that. |
You guys rock! There is no class Easter weekend, so we have two weeks to practice. |
Our BEST trick, and one that Tonks learned really young: WIGGLES. Many sheepies wiggle their butts instead of wagging a tail. Its REALLY easy to assign a command to an action your dog already does. And people love it if you tell your dog to WIGGLE! and their butt wags around. Does Gracie wiggle? If so, this will be your easiest homework ever! |
bloo can sit, lie down, spin left/right, stay, go out, shake paw. ive tryed all these fancy tricks dont work with us. im just stopping with basics bloo can now heel sit heel down heel sit, without command but just actions, so proud good luck!!!!!! let me know if you get the roll over one as i cant grasp that either |
Oh my gawd how cute Langley is, so young!!! Please record Gracie's trick. We need to see it!!!! |
