Puppy does not want to eat breakfast

Bella, 11 weeks, is becoming harder and harder to feed. Anytime we feed her we have to stand there and tell her to "eat food". She will take one piece at a time out of her boul and into the living room to eat it. After about two pieces she will go get a toy or lay down or go smell something. Its beginning to take upwards to an hour to get her to eat a cup of food in the mornings.

We have tried different foods (Science diet, Nutro, and now Iams) for the first day or so she will wolf it down but by day 3 or so back to her one piece at a time.

Any suggestions.

They go thru periods where they just won't eat. Keep a record. Could be her mouth hurts from teeth issues. Maybe softer food is on tap for a few days. If this keeps up and you have not idea why and bribes aren't working.......and she is growing lethargic, time for vet check. Speaking of check, check the exit port.......if a dog becomes crusted back there, eating is uncomfortable as the residue can't be expelled.

She might have a food issue, something in the various foods is setting her off. Read and compare labels. See if you can find something in common. Jumping around is hard on her tummy, try to stick with just one and modify.....maybe with chicken stock, tuna water......something yummy.
Any other tummy issues? Vomiting or loose stools? You might try skipping one meal and letting her get a little more hungry and put a light broth diluted with warm water over the food.
Kenny was the same way until we switched his food FROMM GOLD. May be worth a try? Get a sample at PetPeople (if you have one). They also let your return bags if they dont like it
I haven't had this problem before as it's been my experience with puppies to get them to stop eating so fast. However, as many of my pets have been aged ones I can relate to trying various foods to entice their appetite. The suggestion to soften the food or get gravy to pour over top and then eventually reduce it was a good one.

Still, something bothers me on a gut level and I am wondering if you have had pup checked out? Not eating can be signs of bowel or intestinal problems and should be checked out.

Good luck to you and give that little one a big kiss on the nose for me.

Just wanted to give a quick update:

We tried soaking her food in a little water to soften it. It worked great. Guess she was just trying to tell us her it hurt to chew. Thanks for the suggestions and concerns.
Great! We forget about teething..unless they are chewing the furniture. Now would be a good time to introduce the concept of teeth brushing.......just start with your finger and a cloth....try to keep your fingers on the outside of the teeth, otherwise it will get chewed. Later move to a toothbrush and doggie toothpaste.
