Need sleep!

Oh god. I'm going to die aren't I? My husband has warned me that we will have some seriously rough nights when our girl gets here. Either way, we saw the post, and Samson is just adorable! He's also huge?!
I thought I would remember how it was with other sheepies but I fooled myself! Ha, ha to me,,,,,
you might of posted it under chit chat but since it had pictures Ron may have moved it. Hes sneaky like that. hahaha
OMG!!!! i AM SO scared.....i have forgotten....how bad is it really????
I think you did post it under Chit Chat.
A lot of boards leave a link in the old index saying something like "Moved........"

Since I am going through it--thought I would answer and give my take on it!

It was really hard the first two weeks. I was very careful to set the alarm and get up every two to two and a half hours to do a potty run. After that I began to add an hour every 5 nights. I was totally amazed when my DH took a few shifts too! :hearts: He was good about that with our newborn uprights- :D And we are definitely not as young as we were then! So his help has been very much appreciated.

We are not quite 'there' yet--still a couple of accidents every now and then when for whatever reason the schedule is off a bit. But now after about six weeks -- it is a good night from about mid-night to 6:00AM! :clappurple:

I am so in love with the little guy--that I just kept telling myself--"this too shall pass and he will be grown before you know it--sooo enjoy ALL the moments--good ones and the ones that are a little tougher!"

So far I am surviving! :cheer:
First was tough, think the little guy was scared, missed his litter mates? No sleep at all, just wimpers and lots of out to potty :twitch:

So far his personality is coming out and is feeling more comfortable with his new surroundings. He was playing with my sister and husb tonight, having loads of fun.

I dread night potty breaks, for a while I know they will be rough, I don't use an alarm. I'm a light sleeper anyway so I hear him when he stirs about.

:excited: :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited:
For some reason, I don't really remember having a problem with Brick getting us up when he was a pup.
Probably because I went to bed early (and got up early) while my ex when to bed late (& got up late).
I think I brought him out before I went to bed around 9:30 and she probably brought him out before she went to bed between midnight & 2 AM.
I would get up at 4:30 and would let him out then and just before I left for work at 6 AM.

And for sleeping, I put him in a tall cardboard box with a towel in it set right against the bed and draped my arm into the box.

Now that I think about it, our schedules worked really well for raising a pup. One of us was home at all times.
Now that Gracie is a big grownup girl of four and a half months, we are getting plenty of sleep. I remember the first two weeks being exhausting, but things got better very quickly after that. It goes by so fast, I am feeling a bit melancholy about it all, so enjoy it while it lasts!
It totally depends on the puppy....we were blessed with dahlia, she slept through the night since day one at 8 weeks old. It was out by 11 and good until 5:30 or so....And it got better shortly after that to out by 9:30 and asleep until 6:30.
We made Sherwood sleep with her :). Which he was not impressed at all but the first couple of nights I slepted in a sleeping bag on the floor. Also there was good & bad things & she still plays up nowb & then. Do puppies pick up bad habbits from the older dogs in the house

We are trying things differently this time. My last sheepie Cooper got into a lot a trouble roaming around our bedroom at night so this time I have a crate at the foot of our bed that Samson is sleeping (or not sleeping  )in, at least until he is older and more trustworthy. Then he'll have a fabulous dog cushion to sleep on. Funny, my hubbie lays on the floor outside the cage to make Sam feel comfortable knowing we are around. When the bugger falls asleep hubbie sneaks into bed. :bulb:

So far I've lost count how many times we got up with him. Out at 9:30 pm, 11:30 pm, maybe around 1:00 am, 3:00 am,,,, and on and on............. :twitch: Now ya know why I need some more sleep??? Oh, I cheat, I bring him into bed around 5 am to snuggle, just can't resist! No complaints, just the facts. :hearts: Love him to pieces and this is what we chose to get into. It's true it doesn't last long, trying to take it all in before he grows up.
