I'm already paying $55 for a 43lbs of food (when really it's about 30 something lbs since I don't put near the amount of water they say to use for "honest kitchen" dog food), and I think that's crazy considering she goes through more than 1 box a month. Anyway, but if it works... I'm willing to give it a go. I'm just hesitant b/c trying new foods always brings a whole list of problems normally. The one she is currently on doesn't "fix" her by any means but it's tolerable. stool - good, gas - none, but.... she has chronic ear infections (like gets one if she goes 2 days w/o a cleaning) and scratches a lot still (just doesn't leave any hot spots or anything) so for us... that's a GOOD food after all we've been through. The vet says her ear infections would go away if her food allergy was under control BECAUSE when she's on prednisone ...the ear infections go away. This tells him that it's the allergy caused by food creating more stuff to happen to her ears. So if I hear many people here have tried it and it didn't work for them ...then I won't bother. He said the equivalent that's cheaper (Same price but more quantity) is nature balance vegetarian ...but EVERY time we've switched over to that, the ingredients were always super rich for Yuki and caused a crap load of problems that took longer than anything else for her to "get over...." |

I haven't tried it but just wanted to send my love to Yuki and hope you get the problem resolved. Kisses and hugs to the kids from their wannabee auntie Marianne |
What is the protein? |
We are going to have you cook for her yet! Give it a shot, try to transition into it instead of cold turkey.....no pun. If you can get her "normal" on it, you can add one protein at a time to find the ones causing problems. |

I would think the protein is soy which makes my sheepies very gassy. |
Oh I just read an article on feeding soy, wish I could find it! It wasn't for. |
Yeah... the vet already warned me there were complaints about gas BUT he said it has to beat ear infections and constant itching. I did do homemade cooking for quite awhile. She seemed allergic to whatever I was giving her, and quite honestly... it drove me crazy. The rice was sticking to her beard so there was a whole "process" after meal time, and I was never making enough food no matter how much rice/protein I made and it may be hard to understand ....but I SWEAR I'm already in the kitchen enough cooking for 4 hungry mouths who demand 3 meals a day. I can go on 1 meal a day ...but insist I don't let the starve. Absurd. FWIW, I haven't bought it yet ...just haven't made it to the store. She's working on a different flavor of honest kitchen food right now. |
Margie has always been gasey. I recently found a product that really helps with her gas and settles Ellie's tummy while she is taking strong meds. I found it at Petco, Vets Best Gas Buster. It contains parsley, slippery elm, and ginger root. |
