cataracts on peeps

December of 2009 I had a cataract remeoved from my left eye. All was a success. I recently decided to get my cataract in my right eye removed. So I went to my first appointment and found out that on my left eye some bodily tingys were blurring my eye, which explained why I wasn't seeing so great out of it, so yesterday I went in to the drs and they Lasered a hole so that I could see clearly again. I am amazed at the change.

For quite sometime, I've had to put my font on my computer at 150 in order to read anything on it. I still struggled, but thought is was my right eye with the cataract, not realizing my left eye was part of the problem I had stopped reading books, and really had trouble reading price tags at the store.Very frustrating on a daily basis. I had to rely on Chuck to read medication, ect for me.

Since I had the surgery yesterday morning, I was reading with a 125 font in the afternoon, my eye was very dialated. By this morning I'm now reading qt 100. I am so excited. I can even read a book now. I go back in on Monday to schedule my right eye and I can hardly wait. The vision from the right eye is very evident since the surgery. I'm young to have cataracts, but some people go down that "age slide" a little faster then others. lol I haven't looked for grey hair yet or wrinkles, I figured I'd put that off until after the next surgery. What I don't know can't depress me. lol

If you've had cataract surgery and you're not seeing as well as you did,plz go back and have your eye checked you never know what can be lurking. .

That's great that they were able to help you. Will keep that in mind because I'm sure my time is coming.
Great news. Good luck with the right eye
That's wonderful news that you're now seeing better!!
I'm so happy for you! :D
Young people cataracts can come on quickly so you aren't real sure what's happening. Old fart cataracts are slower developing so one adjusts and adjusts until one day the lady at DMV says, "You flunked your driver's license eye test"...just happened to friend. She had surgery yesterday on one eye and already amazed at the difference.

Glad you are doing well and your "font" size is dropping
I'm so glad for you. I hope your eyes get better and better!
Wow! How excited you must be to regain the ability to be able to read again!! Just this evening I had the conversation with someone as to the wonderful gift of eyesight and how people take it for granted.

You probably did a wonderful public service by posting of your experience because I bet you - you planted that seed in their minds. You did mine..I have neglected my eyes for a while and should probably get them checked.

So happy that it went so well for you! Let us know how it goes with your right eye!

That is great! Wishing you the best with the other eye!
I'm so excited that my next surgery is scheduled for April 4th. It is so exciting to be getting my good eyesight back. with the eye I just had the laser on I can now read with a 100 font on the computer down from an 150. Prayers and positive thoughts would be welcomed.
Sending you positive thoughts and will continue to send them for awhile. Good luck with the surgery on the 4th!
I had the postsurgery check up on my left eye this morning and everything is much better then expected. woo hoo...so now on to Wed for eye #2. That surgery is in the afternoon and they put me to sleep for it. Thank you for your prayers and positive thoughts.
That is GREAT news, Helen!!! :clappurple: :clappurple:

I wish you equally good luck on Wednesday!
Good luck with your eyes.
My mom had laser surgery when she was younger to have the cataracts out, she couldnt see for days, but now she has to wear super strong glasses in order to see, if she takes the glasses off (Or if bloo jumps up n breams them) she cant see, its blurred vision.
Hope everything goes better now xxx :high5:

The way my dr will be taking the cataract out is they cut into the eye and remove the cataract. The laser was for the eye I had done in '09 where some bodily thing had gotten in front of the inbedded contact, wo they just shoot laser to break it up. It worked. So on Wed the cataract will be surgically removed, not by laser. The other deal they have to take into consideration with my eyes is I had RK surgery in the '90's.
So tomorrow is my eye surgery day.(wed 4/4/2012 I am so excited. It is so hard dealing with cataracts. So tomorrow afternoon is the time. I have 3 meds I have to put in my eye today preparing my eye. Thank God we have insurance because just our part of the prescription was $110. There are no generics for them. Just a little info for those who may be looking at this down the way.

Prayers and positive thoughts appreciated.
Good luck Helen!!!

It will be so NICE to have this done and have your vision back :)
I had my surgery yesterday and am so happy it is over. The good news is that the surgery endedup being easier that first thought. I had RK surgey back in the 90's whick can complicate cataract surgery, but I didn't have as many scares in this eye as I did the other, so all worked out.

I went to the dr this morning for the first recheck and my eye is 20/25. woo hoo. I go back on the 11th.For now I have 3 different medications to drop in my eye 3 times a day. No big deal.

Thank you for all of your prayers and support, I really appreciate them. Forward to healing!
Great news!
Those eye drops will keep you busy, but a small price to pay!
Happy Healing :)
That is such wonderful news. I'm teary eyed just
reading your update... I'm so happy for you!
so the eye saga continues. I went back to the eye surgeon on Wed and there is too much pressure in my eye, so she changed the steroid. I am seeing much better this morning. I go back next Wed.

I keep giving these updates for those people, who in the future, may have to have a cataract removed they kinda know what to expect. I've learned so much off this forum about different events in my life that I thought I would help a little by educating through life experience.
I hope that the new steroid does the trick!
Helen,
Hope all went well over the weekend- that your vision is great and that you have no discomfort.
Continue with your meds and be sure to wear sunglasses.
UV protection can help keep sun damage from harming the tissue around and in your eyes.
Best wishes!
I had my final after surgery check up yesterday and the pressure is down to normal in my eyes and all is well. My surgery is a success...I don't even need to wear glasses. I do have a "wrinkle" behind my retina of my left eye, which sometimes cuts out the middle of something I would be looking at. They can fix that...I did know that after my left eye after the surgery. I'm glad the surgery is behind me for now.
Yeah, when you are tired of the wrinkle you can have that fixed. Right now, enjoy the great eye sight! Imagine 25/20. (I can only dream.........)
Wonderful news!!!
Enjoy, enjoy :)
Wow! Yay!
