The best bet would probably be to contact rescues in your area. Go ahead and fill out their applications and get on a list so they can get in touch with you if something comes up. Best of luck. |
Welcome! Good luck with your search! |
My other option would be to adopt a well bred puppy. Since I have had 3 rescues in the past..that were incredible, that was my first option. But, it would be fun to bring in a puppy. But, I absolutely would need to have one from a reputable breeder. I like the OES on the larger side, and kind of like the boxy look. Anyway, putting this out there, and hoping someone is able to direct me to one or the other. As I sit here on the couch, with Bentley laying next to me, his head on my lap, it confirms that he needs a buddy, and I'm also ready for one too! Thank you once again! Dawn |
Please check the breeder referral link at: http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamerica.org for reputable breeders. |
Yes a puppy is alway a great option. I just read in your post you were looking for one a year or two old that someone may be looking to adopt out. That's why I suggested getting on a rescue list. Check out the breeder link above. If one in your area doesn't have any puppies they may be able to point you to someone who does. Good luck in finding your new buddy. |
Good luck! Keeps us up to date |
Dawn I sent you a PM regarding your email. I didnt know I could email from here till it was to late. Im not to computer savvy. |
I have a young male that we are looking for a great home for. Please call corinne 770.957.1115 if interested. |
Corinne, you might start a new thread for the OES male you currently have so he'll get more attention. Include any information on him, maybe a picture and rescue info... or just a link if it's available. Hoping he'll find a great home soon! |
Dawn, there's thread about a 1 year old male in Naperville. I don't think that's too far from you... viewtopic.php?f=13&t=37546 |
Thank you Paula. Corrine, I did just try to call, but got your voice mail. I absolutely still want another OES. Really miss not having 2. However, since I first posted this, I have decided that I am looking for a dog that I can do conformation, and then agility with. The puppies health and happiness are my first concerns, for sure. So, I will be looking to get a puppy from a quality OESCA breeder. I've had the privilege of meeting some really incredible OES people these past months...Kristine, Sunny, and the wonderful members of the Wisconsin OES club. They have shared so much with me, taught me things I never knew, invited me to shows, and have welcomed me into applying for membership to both the Wisconsin OES club and the OESCA. I so appreciate their help thus far, and know that having a good mentor or two will be the best way for me to succeed with my conformation and agility....and I will definitely succeed! (confidence is good, right? ) My only problem now is that nobody has puppies! There is rumor of a possible breeding in the area, but nothing yet. I want to do this right, so I will continue to wait if I have to. But, it's soooooo hard seeing all of these cute puppy pictures here! Anyway, thank you for checking with me Corinne and Paula, I do appreciate it! Dawn |
I helped Corrine with her 11 month old Wilbur today. He's now safe and sound with a foster family here in Atlanta. Please contact Fiona with the Old English Sheepdog Rescue Network of the SouthEast to file an adoption application for Wilbur. I'm not sure what the rescue's policy is on long-distance adopting. But I helped transport this boy today and he seemed a good dog at heart, that is in need of some serious people time and training. I will say that i didn't see any bad habits or negative behaviors; he just needs to learn his manners and commands! http://oesrescuenetwork.org/beta/ |
Thanks Allison! |
