LOL I thought i was going to see an Australian Shephard! |
The question and answer bit is quite amusing too. Typical Aussie humour which, by the way, is different to US humor. I must ask Kim and David how it compares to Canadian humo(u)r or is it humeur?? |
Canadians spell with British English...which typically has the u...so humour as we were once part of the British Colony. lots of words with ou, in fact, like colour for example. The only exception to this rule is cheque which is the French version but still not incorrect to write check. However, as we live so close to the US and they use North American English, most Canadians have since dropped the u and spell it humor. English teachers and even our own government say both with and without the u is correct. No wonder I have trouble spelling eh? PSSS Actually I never say eh, but fiqure since most 'mericans and other folks think we say that a lot I thought I'd throw that in there. Aussies - I know have the best sense of humor and I love love love the slang! |
I would never drop the 'u', that would be sacrilegious! As for humoUr, I find Canadian humoUr to be a similar to British, Aussie (Commonwealth, I guess you could say) and also to American humoUr-we get to enjoy the best of all of you! Or should that be the best of all of U? Note: I also thought that this was going to be about the canine version of Aussies! |
I think Canadians and Aussies have more in common than either of us do with the Brits anymore... both Commonwealth countries, and I think both don't want to be anymore LOL The Canadian spelling I have to catch myself occasionally, I worked for Bank Of America for 5 years and some of the training was spent learning American slang and omitting our "u"'s lol |
Okay now you've done it! Kaj is mildly amused and I am in hysterics over this whole post! What I had neglected to do was scroll further down the post.....and actually read the description...which I did a few moments ago. I just thought posting an ad for that vintage funny looking vehicle was the humor/humour. Not until I clicked on the post and actually scroll down did I realize how much I had missed and still had thought it was funny before. Now it was hysterical! I started snorting, cackling, laughing hysterically at the series of events and Kaj became distressed as he was upstairs thinking I was having some kind of medical crisis. He rushed down. I couldn't speak I was laughing so hard....just pointed to the screen. He found it amusing but then again he is Dutch and has a different sense of humor/humour than me. |
marianne, this of course proves that................ blondes really do have more fun. |
Guest Yes I was certainly experiencing a "moment". On another note about Canadian humor/humour , I have to sneak this photo that Arielle posted in photos and show proof of it here. |
Too Funny! |
This pseudo-blonde thought it was hysterical as well. I love Aussie humor....american spelling; NZ humor; Brit humor; don't hear much Canandian since I live on the other side of the country so can't comment. |
Very funny, sent link to a friend in Perth. |
