After the dogs learned they could go in and out at top speed it was only a matter of (small) time that the plastic pieces broke. Dh put a flexible opening on. Its been about a few months and now thats ripped across the top and hanging by a thread. Dh bought a new hinge and another flexible opening and he thinks that by making this new hinge move easier that it will last longer. Any ideas on how to make this one last or what worked for you. |

pam, those two products are about it and they wear out even with human use as air curtain dividers. i was thinking though, since simon is growing a brain, maybe a flashing yellow light would slow him down. |
I have no solution. Mine isn't looking too good right now either. They work well for dogs who use the doors in a calm, dignified manner........hasn't been the case here. |
We have a dog door that we've had since we adopted Violet, 9 yrs, and was given to us from my brother...so it's had a lot of doggy butt through it. The door is still in great shape. It has that heavy rubber that hangs down to close. My dogs don't usually haul tail out of it, they usually go pretty slowly. The other day Asia went hauling tail and stepped in the wather bowl knocked it over and made it out the door without skipping a beat(that was a lot of Aussie on the go)...China was hauling right behind her. All happened so fast. A stray dog was at our fence..... |
