We just found this great website here! I wanted to know if anyone here has a dog that is from RAFFLES JUST EWE WAIT :aka: HIGGINS? We have a wonderful son of his named MacArthur who will be turning 10 this year. Look forward to hearing if anyone else has any offspring from Higgins. |

My beautiful Sammy girl was the great Higgins daughter. She passed 2 years ago at the age of 10. Still miss her everyday. I was saddened to learn Toni no longer bred OES. Amber of Blueshire here on this forum has Higgins' offspring in her breeding lines. Would love to see a photo of your MacArthur. He would be only 2 years younger than Sammy. She was the only one in her litter of nine who was a regular pet and not in the show ring. |
That was quick! Sorry to hear about Sammy. How did she pass? Where did you pick Sammy up from as a pup? I will post pictures of Mac later today. We picked him up from upstate NY (not from Toni). From what we can remember from back in 2002, Mac was in a litter of about eight; More females than males by far.. I would say 5 females and 3 males. |
Our Virginia's (6 years old) sire is Raffles Ewe'Reka, and he would be our Mady's and Gracie's grandad. I don't know what relation he had to Just Ewe Wait. |
I have no info on Raffles' "kids" for you but I just wanted to say that I've seen Higgins at a OESCA National Specialty in the past and that dog was quite impressive. Any pictures of your pup? (I always call the pup because IMO they are all "permanent puppies" even at 10 years old or more) Linda Zimmerman (owner of 2 seniors - Chloe & Kristy, 11) |
I have a Higgins great grand daughter, great great grand daughter and great great great grand daughter.... (Panda, Piper and Rumour) It is sad that Toni isn't breeding oes anymore, but the lines definitely continue. Really though, all oes go back to a foundation of only 4 or 5 dogs so they're all related more closely than most people think. |

Thanks for the info. Does anyone have any pictures of Higgins to share? Never met/seen him. We only met Mac's mother. Here are some pictures of Mac. Sorry if they are so big, I do not know how to make them smaller. As a pup , 2002: 8-9 years old: Longer hair: He's a great dog! |
I have one of Toni's last males she bred - "Dickens", Raffles Ewe'Reka, who is a Higgins grandson. A bitch I co-own/bred who is in New Mexico was just bred to a Higgins grandson from Madeline Erickson. I have lots of Higgins in my lines. He was a great dog in every way. I had the honor of meeting him on many occasions at Tonis place. I love your photos! |
Sammy was born Dec 19 1999 in Pennslyvania. Toni got to pick three puppies from the litter. She picked a top girl Olivia for herself to show, a boy Hugo to show and she picked out Sammy for us. We had met Toni and Higgins at a dog show in November 1999 in Toronto. Our youngest son who was 7 yrs old and been wanting a Sheepie since he was 3 ran up to Higgins on his grooming table and said "that's the one I want!" Toni explained to us that she rarely has puppies to sell but agree to meet with us to discuss the possibilities of getting one of her pups. We met at her house for the interview with our 3 boys. Higgins was magnificent and very much a regular pet. Our kids loved him. I guess we passed her scrutiny because she told us there is a Higgins litter due shortly in Pennsylvania and she would be picking the pups up after Westminster in February. At Westminster Higgins won the Best in Breed. We picked up our girl the following week. Toni picked the perfect puppy for us, sweet and loving yet active enough to supervise 3 growing boys. Sammy truly helped me raise our boys. I have a photo of the boys with Higgins but I can't find it. That was before digital cameras. Thanks for indulging me in this journey down memory lane. |
Great pictures of Sammy!!! I can see a resemblance. Thanks for sharing! |
Just saw this post. I just lost a Higgins son, Polo (Woolywits Polo in Plaid) to chronic renal failure. Only 10 years old He was a wonderful dog and I miss him more than I can say. The resemblance to the two dogs posted here is incredible. Will try to post some of him. |
I had the honor of having the very first litter from Higgins. I have based my whole breeding program around Higgins. In fact, I am the only person that has frozen semen of Higgins. I am going to be doing a breeding, i'm not sure if I will use the Semen at this time or not. But I DO plan on using it with my girl from Amber, which should be an AWESOME litter!. But I had wonderful litter from Higgins.. My boy Duncan, was loved by many. He was my first Int./MEX/LtnAM/PanAm/Am Champion and the love of my life. I lost him 7 years ago now and still miss him every day. |
ps.............. I will find my Higgins pictures and try to scan them in and post them. |
Hi All, I was the one who started this post. I just want to say that it was great reading the current responses. We have lost our Mac in the spring of 2013. We miss him everyday. Fortunately, we now have a wonderful puppy who is a great nephew of our Mac. I would love to see pictures of Higgins. |
i do have pictures of Higgins........... I need to find them...........as soon as i do i will post them. To me, as others, Higgins was and always will be "THE" epitome of whata an OES should be and look like. My boy Ricky looks exactly like him. both in looks and movement. |
Hi, My second OES was a Higgins son.... " Winston". I know everyone thinks their dog is the best.... but Winston really was ! He finished his championship in less that 3 months and was amazing. He just passed at the end of last year at the ripe old age of 15 +. I did get to see Higgins once or twice and I agree, he was the best ! Good luck with your sheepie ! |
I plan on breeding 's Lucy in the fall to Higgins. I just have way too much going on in my life right now in order to do so this season. But, DEFINATELY next season! |
