colorado in March

My kids spring break is March 19-23. We are THINKING about going to Colorado Springs for a few day. Lots of "free" things to do in the area and with a family of 5 thats important. lol

Anyway if any colorado members can tell me what kind of weather to expect around that time Id appreciate it. My weather bug only goes 10 days ahead. I dont mind cold just not freezing-- We are from Texas. haha

Thanks for any advice.. :D

    March is Colorado snowiest month. You could have 60-70 degrees, 80 mph winds along the Front Range, or snow up to your ho-ho. Expect the best, plan for the worst.
8O snow to hoho scared me, maybe this will help. 8)

That temp range sounds perfect. What activities are you thinking of doing while up there? I'm so jealous you're going. What a nice way to do spring break. Hope you guys have fun!

Mr. J is on call to go to alaska for a job, so we can't go anywhere until he finishes it. Screws up so many plans.

scared me too. 8O almost told my husband never mind we'll stay home!
thanks for the link now I have to figure out how to change celsius to fahrenheit.

there is a lot of "free" things to do in the area, trying to keep cost down. We are driving, its only about 12 hours, not bad with 2 drivers.
We'll do Coors Brewry in Golden, for me and my husband, and its actually a pretty cool tour. Then do some stuff in the little town there. Then Garden of the Gods is pretty, Seven Falls, Estes Park isnt to far and Royal Gorge. I think the only thing that will cost alot is Pikes Peak. That is 35.00 a person. Then we MAY horse back ride in Estes Park, depending on cost. :crossed: :crossed:

My husband travels a lot with his work and has saved up hotel points so we can use those to pretty much pay most of our stay. So thats nice. We're looking at staying at a Homewood suites. They have complimentary breakfast and complimentary "light dinner". Cant beat that when you have to feed 3 teenagers!

And the little town of Manitou Springs has a lot of cute little shops to go through. There is one there that has all kinds of dog stuff. Maybe I can find something cute for the auction.

I know I sound cheap but Hey gotta pinch every penny these day. Have to save money for Sheepiepalooza Auction. I really want those sunglasses!!! 8)

Assuming it will be an average day, temps in the mid 50s, lows in the 20s.

March is neither winter or spring but both.....the interface. It's a nice town, so much to do, nice looking too. Go and have fun!
Guess I can handle 50's. Just have to bring a warm coat.
Must admit those record highs of 70's is more of what Im hoping for. Just no record lows please! :?

But just getting away for a few days, even if its sitting in the hotel, will be wonderful!!! (I dont get out much) :|
We visited Estes Park with the kids and grandkids last year.

If you're anywhere near Boulder, two not-to-miss free tours are of the Celestial Seasonings Tea Factory (fun) and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (very educational, but you almost need a GPS to find the complex in the maze of residential streets surrounding it).

Drive safely and have a good trip!
THANK YOU! I didnt know the Celestial Tea factory was there. And they do tours? My girls LOVE their hot teas. I just put that on my things to do list. :clappurple:

My husband goes no where without his GPS. Even on our trips to San Antonio, which we lived in for 30 years and go down once a month to see family. I tell him- really you dont know how to get there by now. :? I always offer to tell him where to go but he doesnt listen. 8)
Sounds like a spring break trip we made a while back. And we actually did the 10 day weather forecast to pick our destination!!! We picked how far we could realistically drive and then started checking weather forecasts...

We went from MN to the Smoky Mountains in TN. It was one of our best trips ever. We also had a gang - 2 teenage boys, grown daughter and baby granddaughter, Todd and I. We were a packed van!

Have a great time :cheer:
Tour information (location, days, times, etc.) can be found on the Celestial Seasonings Web site at http://www.celestialseasonings.com/tours and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) website at https://spark.ucar.edu/visit/ncar-public-tours.
Thanks. I did look them up and wrote down addresses and info. Looks like they will be fun. :clappurple:

my daughter will love the Tea tour :tea: and my son and daughters boyfriend will love the science tours. :high5:

Unfortunately my oldest daughter , who is in college, wont be able to go. Her spring break is a week ahead of the others and she just got a job. I told her we would make it up to her this summer when she can take time off. But at least we have a babysitter for our 4 legged kids. :yay: Sometimes thats the hardest part about planning a trip because my dogs go every where with us. But this time they can stay with their sissy. (although Ryeligh is NOT going to be happy having mommy gone a week) :sidestep:
Forgot to mention: If you already have a National Parks Pass (or don't mind paying the carload entrance fee), the National Park Service has a number of free winter programs out of the Rocky Mountain National Park Visitor Center at Estes Park.
