We are considering a pup from Bahlamb...very good reputation, after researching, I'm wondering if anyone has personal experience with this line? Thanks! |
|
HI,
Years ago we had OES out of Bahlambs line. We bred our female to Bahlambs Beach Boy, and had 6 very nice pups. I am not sure what the line carries today, as I said this was many years ago. If you have researched your breeder you should do fine. If you would like to email me I can tell you more about that line. |
Cherie,
Is there anything that you can share with others on this Forum about the Bahlambs line? We too, are considering a Bahlambs puppy. Thanks. |
I was very impressed when I visited the Bahlamb's Kennel in Maryland that was owned by Caj Haakansson. His OES were beautiful, and at the time we had a female we were showing, and decided to breed her, and did so with Bahlamb's Beach Boy, who was co-owned by Jere Marder and Cai and was the number 1 OES in the U.S. at that time. You can read about him and some other Bahlamb OES at Jere Marder's site which is called Lambluv.
We enjoyed our puppies and found them to be very sound in all respects. We showed for about 5 years or so, and Bahlambs always did very well in the show circuit. Many years ago, and I still miss all 7 of the dogs we back then! |
Our 16 month old pup has a lot of recent Bahlambs in his bloodline on his dad's side even though we didn't get him from that kennel. Specifically Bahlambs "Broadway Blast" and "Bumpkin Boy". Frank's temperament is amazingly great, not a single aggressive bone in his body (even though he loves to jump on people). Regarding his physical appearance we get a ton of compliments on how good looking of a dog he is structurally, and even the vet says he's one of the best looking sheepdogs she's seen in a long time (sorry to be so gushing).
Please feel free to visit our little web site family album if you would like to see what he looks like http://www.ideapatio.com/oursheepdog Please make sure that you post lots of pix when you get your pup! |
I love the Bahlamb dogs, gorgeous.... |
I have a signed Code Of Ethics from this breeder. I refer people to this kennel on a regular basis. Highly recommended!
Very nice to see when people like you want to make sure you are getting a puppy from a reputable breeder. If they were all like you, there would be no more puppy mills! Thank you! |
Thank you so much everyone for your encouraging and positive responses!
We are going to be getting our little girl next week, she is flying in either Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on the weather! I will post pictures once she arrives. Looking forward to sharing more with you guys! |
We have a rule here on the forum....you must post pictures...lots and lots of pictures |
I can't wait to see your pup! Please make sure you join too, and welcome to the forum!
Have you chosen a name for her? |
Hi~
I just registered, so now the new baby has to arrive, and I'll be an official OES mom! She's coming in Wednesday morning. I just spoke with the breeder, she uses "B" names, so it will have to be Bahlamb's B__ B__. The mom is Bountiful Belle, and the dad is To-Jo's Beamer (his nickname), so maybe some combination of the two? So far, I like Bunny, Blossom, Boo, for B names...I believe I've seen a Bunny and a Boo on here, I think those are really cute. I am definitely open to suggestions~hopefully once I see her, one will fit. I'll be posting lots of pics, provided I can figure it out, I'm not known for my computer skills I can't wait to get to know everyone here! |
Hmmmm
Going to show? How about: Bahlamb's Basic Beauty |
Just so you know, you can pick whatever B names for the registered name and not actually call the dog that. A call name is not always related to the registered name.
For example, if I ever get a male his registered name will be (whatever kennel name) Rising Aeon, but his call name will be Durc. |
boo's registrated name is a dream called la desirade |
Hi VerveUp,
Had to log back on in the wee hours of the morning to tell you how much I enjoyed looking at all the photos in Franks Album. I had viewed some photos before and so many favorites!! Frank was an adorable puppy and his character shows in each of his photographs. Newman was absolutely precious too and what a wonderful tribute album you have in honor of his memory. What can I say about Nut Nut..gorgeous boy! Thanks for posting the site and sharing it with all of us. Baylor - Congrats on your new little girl and may you share lots of wonderful memories with her for years to come. Yes pictures!!! We love them!!! Marianne and the boys |
I cannot say enough good about the Bahlambs Kennels.
I first bred there either in the late 1960s or very early 1970s, to Int. Nordic, Swedish, American Champion Bahlambs Bleak Blue Blackguard, called Humpy. Bahlambs Unnesta Pim was Caj's first super OES to be brought over to the USA, and later was owned by Barry Goodman. Seems like Pim was #1 OES in the world then. Since then I bred for many generations, to Beach Boy, Barrister, Beach Boy Bleu, and I don't remember the others. Never any temperment problems for many wonderful years of breeding with that kennel. Truly an asset to the Old English Sheepdog breedings of the world. Caj certainly knew his dogs, and Suzanne, last word, was continuing to do some great breedings. My last bitch, ReyemBahlamb Reagan's Refusal, or Scarlet, was finished by Steve Cyr, of Ct. I went to my first OES Specialty with Mrs. Lilllian Lovejoy, of Lillibrad Kennels, Denver, Colorado. She was the breeder of Disneys Shaggy Dog. This breed was chosen because while attending obedience classes, this dog responded better to hand signals better than any other breed in the class. Due to health reasons, I went from the OES to the Jack Russell Terriers, and now into showing canaries! Such a pleasure to know Caj, Art, John, and Suzanne for so many years. How about "Bahlamb's Bodacious Brit"?

Caj is ded I'm sure you know that. Moust of his dog is gon back to Sweeden. I know his breeding! and I have seen several of his dogs. My Harry's dad is Ch. Bahlamb's Back to Basic. |
Bingley has a lot of bahlamb in him, too. |
I let Susanne know what you said, she was quite pleased. |
Great info.
I just found out that Hannah is related to Bahlamb's Broomstick Blues and CH Lamedazottel Heaven Knows Bahlambs. It's kind of a relief to know she has some good genes in her. Maybe that's why she has overcome the health problems she has suffered. Verve up. I viewed your sight and really really enjoyed it! Frank has got to be one of the cutest sheepies ever. |
