Definitely not for me. I mean... how would the new furkid feel about it? I'm pretty sure he/she would have a lot of insecurities feeling they have to live up to this freeze-dried dog. It would give me nightmares waking up to a dog I'm trying to "not forget" but move on from.. |
I think it's grotesque. |
I think it's creepy. Look at the schnauzer. CREE-PEE!! Although the dalmo looks good & natural. I was wondering if that dog was alive ot not. It would be weird having your dead dog in the house, like a decoration. Does anyone remember Rowdy, from Scrubs? |
Oh, wow... that was totally a "WHAT?!" moment when I read the title. No thanks! |
CamVal1 wrote: Does anyone remember Rowdy, from Scrubs? Yeah...he wasn't in a very natural pose though...right? He also wasn't their dog...they got him at a garage sale or something...right? Memories very foggy on Friday afternoon |
Nope, I wouldn't do it to my pets. Granted, I am going to be stuffed and sent to my sister when the time comes. When I told her, I wish I had had a picture. |
This is one of those moments when I just have to say, "To each his own", and walk away. |
The joy of having a pet is the interaction with them, the touch, the lick, the frequent gas bursts (OK, not that!) the bark. This reduces them to "thing" which they were NOT. |
Eww! That schnauzer reminds me of the animals in Stephen King's "Pet Sematary. Kind of zombie-like. When I was in college there was a cemetery where a glass-fronted mausoleum housed a stuffed bulldog. He was said to have been the pet of the couple who was buried there. All the kids from ISU had to go out and see it for themselves. Eventually the dog started turning a bit green and disintegrating. It was either removed or the glass obscured so it was no longer on display. Not sure what they do these days for entertainment in Terre Haute, IN. To each his own. Personally, I wouldn't do it to my pet. I dusted around Sassy's ashes for almost a year before finally scattering them in our own Pet Cemetery. Can you imagine dusting a freeze-dried OES, not to mention the amount of space one would take up? Sticking with the old-school method of sending off my furry friends. |
A kid yes...but a pet...never!! Seriously, it's a little on the weird side...but hey..whatever floats your boat!! |
Stop that... that's bad humor! Thinking more about this, I really have a problem with it because I have a habit of checking to see if my dogs... heck, my husband and son when he was a baby... are breathing. I just couldn't get past having what was a living creature now failing to do that. Eeks! It also kind of reminds me of those cat and dog toys for children that I've seen for sale at Cracker Barrel... except the chest likely won't be rising/falling to replicate respiration. Does the Dalmatian need a nail trim? |
Gives me the creeps... |
Maggie McGee IV wrote: Can you imagine dusting a freeze-dried OES, So I see that as a negative of a freeze-dried OES. You don't get any joy from owning the freeze-dried OES but DO get all the coat maintenance that the OES needed when alive. |

You don't get any joy from owning the freeze-dried OES but DO get all the coat maintenance that the OES needed when alive. Sure, I enjoy grooming but despise dusting! Besides, a bath probably would not be a good thing for a freeze-dried critter of any kind. |
OMG!! Quote: Does the Dalmatian need a nail trim? They couldn't bother to keep the nails trimmed in life but just spent thousands to have it preserved?? |
A little creepy for me- |
Too creepy for me also. As much as I miss them, I couldn't take seeing them everyday like "that". Cindy |
Ewwwwwwww. That is most disturbing. You know how much I love my boy, but this is just one step too far for me. Laurie and Oscar |
