I am debating between the ceramic blade and the stainless steel ones. Can anyone tell me about how many minutes it takes for a steel blade to get hot on a low speed? Thank you! |

I have found, the higher the number of the blade & the faster the speed, the quicker it will get hot. I can shave almost an entire OES with the 3-3/4 steel blade & it doesn't get too hot. I have both ceramic & steel & prefer the steel over the ceramic. They hold their edge much longer. My suggestion is to buy 2 or 3 of each blade number in steel (I have #10, #7 & #3-3/4). that way if you feel it is getting hot, you can switch off to the other one of the same number & let the 1st one cool. |
Ditto, ditto. I cannot do a whole dog without changing blades. Sure I use the cool lube, etc but it's easier just to pop off the blade and change. I try to have three for each session. I don't like the ceramic. (sometimes I've had two clippers as well) |
You can get quite a long time from one blade as long as you keep it oiled, its the dry dirty blade that causes friction and then heat If it does get hot put the blade on a ceramic tile and have a 5 min break! Never used ceramic blades, did try once and the shop advised against them. Also by only using your blades on clwan hair they will last ages before they need sharpening! |
