Hope you dont mind me intruding, but we're in the he UK and about to get our first rescue dog.(fingers crossed) It isnt my first OES, i had one for 10 years back in the 80's We are sooo excited! its like waiting for the birth of a new child!. I have children , 10yrs and 7 yr,..and we belive the dog to be around 5-7 month old. We've been looking for a suitable dog for ages now, and they are veyr hard to come by in the UK, but we're keen to get a rescue. I dont think the person who had the dog realised how much hard work a puppy is, and seems to think it has behavioural problems because it pulls on the lead (It is being checked out before we have the dog for safety sake with the children), But, fingers crossed...... within the next week or so, he will be ours. SO,.... Advice please, ... to an increasingly nervous, but excited family ! |

Hi Mo!
Wonderful news on your OES rescue! There is a great book out called "The Dog Listener" by Jan Fennell, which discusses introducing a new dog to your home, walking on a leash, general training, etc. You also might want to look into obedience training classes, for bonding purposes and socialization, in addition to the obedience aspect. Good luck with your sheepie! |
Congrats to you for rescueing a dog. We got ours in September when she was 6 months. I missed out the puppy stage, but it was all worth it now. Feel free to ask questions. |
