So I brought her with us to Frankies appt and the vet looked at her back foot and said it was Yeast. Because of her Diabetes Incipidus she can't use creams or meds with steroids in them. So he gave me some Nolvasan to wash her foot with, and then said to powder it with cornstarch or powder. So we'll see how that works. Lisa Frankie and Mattie |

be careful of cornstarch ...I think yeast feeds on it and gets worse. Not 100% on that, but I think I am right. Seems I remember that from past experience with a patient or Piper...can't remember.. ...gettin' old...lol |
I heard the same thing about cornstarch feeding yeast, in reference to a baby with diaper rash. I wonder if you could use the ear-plucking powder on her feet. It's drying, right? Laurie and Oscar |
You might try Gold Bond powder. If you can find the green bottle, it is a bit stronger & medicated. If not, the regular gold bottle is fine. I always keep that on hand for many uses on the dogs. Generally once they lick an area that has it on, the taste is bad enough that they let it alone. Of course you want to make sure it wouldn't interact with her other meds for her other condition. |
Just info if it doesn't clear up... Ask your vet if Douxo shampoo and wipes. Wash 2x per week, let shampoo stay in contact with skin for 10 minutes and rinse/dry thoroughly. Use the wipes twice weekly in between. http://www.douxo.us/dermatology/douxo-d ... ampoo.html http://www.douxo.us/dermatology/douxo-d ... -pads.html |
I was going to suggest Gold Bond too. We go thru a lot on humans and MO's paw. She licks the painful paw (arthritis) to where she gets yeasty infection. We have to clean well and treat with Gold Bond. |
