Awwwwwwww she is beautiful! |
perhaps the lady who wanted Disco would be interested??? |
They are in the the corner of where Iowa/Nebraska and So Dakota meet. A bit over 4 hours from me. I looked on the shelter website (as those states are usually really low rates)...and the adoption fee is "between $65 and $85 for dogs". I have a good friend who's from that area (within a couple hours) who goes down often to see her parents...so if anyone was interested, she could likely get this dog and send it up to my area. |
Is this sheepie in danger? Has rescue been contacted? |
jcc9797 wrote: Is this sheepie in danger? Has rescue been contacted? I don't think he's in any danger. I checked out the website and it looks like a newer, very up to date local shelter. They have lots of pictures and stuff, and they seem pretty proactive. Pet of the Week, sound proof baffles in the kennel area, a store area to sell merchandise, active group. LeAnne and Bre adopted ACD Poppy from the Story CO Shelter just north of Des Moines Iowa. It was a wonderful shelter too. Seems IA is getting some really nice shelters....makes me happy! And they charged a really low adoption fee as well - they said they have really good supporters, so they can keep their adoption fees low. |
aww she looks a little bewildered someone get her |
So......the family that wanted Disco in Ohio are interested in this gal. I have emailed with her the past few months over getting a dog and they sound like a wonderful family. Does anybody have any ideas for a transport towards Ohio?? I would have to map it to figure out who may be en route If anybody can help please email me and I an get you in touch with Kathleen (in Ohio) Thanks Kathy carolinasoes@gmail.com |
Oooh... I hope it works out! |
Fingers and paws crossed that it works out for them! |
I bet I can get her a ride to my house (friend Mary I mentioned)...and I could get her started into WI!!! Edit - Mary said she would give her a ride up here to me. And asked if the shelter or anyone from that area could get her to Spencer, IA (where her parents live). The shelter is 2 hours from Spencer. She possibly will be going down to Spencer to visit her parents this next weekend (March 3-4). |
Dawn I will email you with Kathleen's contact info A friend of mine with BONE has some contacts in IL that can possibly help |
I don't want to be a poop head But do we know where this dog is going?? Has a HV been done? any references?? at least vet references? I do not want to hurt anyones feelings but before I would pull a dog and transport to any one or any rescue I would have to know certain things.............. |
Another contact to try might be Midwest Animal and Rescue Services@ midwestanimalrescue.org. I also volunteer fro MARS and there are transports almost every weekend. MO, WI, IA etc. An office phone number is 763-503-4900 and fax# 763-463-9493. Unfortunately, the office is not open on Monday. I have also let them know, any sheepdogs that come in are MINE!!!!! I have been told they have never had an OES. Can you believe |
I'm in Chicago and would definitely help out! Let me know!!!! |

Is a rescue pulling the dog or is this a Humane Society to adopter placement (if the owner qualifies to adopt)? Based on their website, it looks like the Humane Society has their own adoption protocol and ways of selecting a new family to match a dog's needs/requirements- http://www.siouxlandhumanesociety.org/adopt/adopt.html Ryleigh wrote: perhaps the lady who wanted Disco would be interested??? Hi All- "Sheepie" in Iowa is a 2 year old owner turn-in. The shelter does not have much information about her- not even a birthdate. But I am trying to get the wheels moving and have had numerous emails with OES rescue and the shelter over the past several days. The shelter is closed on Mondays aand more information will be available tomorrow. Distance is a hurdle for me and I am touched by the rallying around 'Sheepie". Another family or individual who is closer to Sioux City, Iowa may be interested in her and known in the OES circles- and that would be fabulous if that pairing were made. But if not, I will keep on plugging away- trying to get Sheepie out of the shelter and into loving arms. That's the update as I know it- thanks! Have a great night! |
Hoping you'll find your match soon! |
for you Kathleen! |
Hope this baby finds a home soon! If it comes to it, I can help out getting the gal across Michigan. |
I want to thank all the super OES lovers for offering assistance to transport sweet Sheepie. She was adopted by someone more local to her. I'm so happy for her and for them. We have been getting some great leads on a new family member. I'll post with news when the time comes! And then I'll "join" the forum with a fun name! Have a fabulous week! |
