Beluga is an 8-month-old purebred Old English Sheepdog. At 80 pounds, we suspect that she isn't done growing yet! Can you say, bull in a china shop? lol She really is a precious thing, but she has not had the benefit of training. Purchased at a pet store, her owners made that mistake that those of us in rescue just dread: they made a spontaneous decision to bring home a cute puppy. Not surprisingly, they were not prepared for the responsibilities of a puppy, let alone a large dog. They eventually brought her back to the pet store, but pet stores don't take back their puppies, especially 80 pound ones! When another store patron overheard them say they were going to take her to the pound, she offered to take the pup. And so it ended up with us. What a journey! Needless to say, Beluga has not had the benefit of training. She is just now learning how to rein in her puppy energy in a house ~ she has obviously spent a lot of time outside. Already house trained and anxious to please, she will learn, but it is going to take patience and consistency. Beluga's adoption fee is $450. She is being fostered in the Ocala area. http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/22315962 |
